Spring Has Finally Sprung!

That was one long winter, but it looks like we are finally settling into some nice weather.

What's New Around the Clinic

We recently had a booth at the Newberg Camelia Festival to answer questions for runners and walkers participating in the 5K and 10K races. If you haven’t participated in this event, it is worth your time to sign-up next year!

Patrick just organized a fundraiser for Doernbecher Children’s Hospital through Newberg Kiwanis. This fundraiser involved raffling off a 2017 Ford Mustang and tickets are still being sold if you want to participate. Come stop by the clinic to grab a ticket before August 25th!

Have you seen our recent story in the Newberg Graphic?  We recently helped with a community wide effort to put AED’s in all Newberg Police cars. AED’s save lives and we are happy to partner with the Newberg Graphic and our local police department to ensure our community stays healthy.

Forrest Paxton has been moved to a full-time position as a Physical Therapy Aide so now you get to see him all days of the week and not just Fridays. We are excited to have him spend more time in the clinic.

Patrick’s son, Wesley, is now walking and talking on his own. His favorite words are ‘Nana’ for banana, ‘Dada’ and, ‘night night.’

Warm Weather Tips & Tricks

This is the time of year that many start to return or ramp up exercises due to the nice weather. As a rule, starting slow and being consistent with exercise is the best way to prevent overuse injuries. Typically, you should not exceed a greater than 10% increase in time, distance, or intensity per week.

What's New in Physical Therapy

A recent article in the Journal of Orthopedic and Sports Physical Therapy (JOSPT) found that manual therapy (or the use of hands-on Physical Therapy) was as effective as surgery in patients with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. The variables measured were symptom severity, finger strength, and self-reported function. If you are dealing with Carpal Tunnel, we would be happy to help!
