Prayer - Petition & Praise

--------------------

Passing of Elder Ted Wilson's Mother -  Elinor E Wilson, mother of Ted N. C. Wilson, passed away on Wednesday, June 8, at a care facility in Dayton, MD.  A small graveside service was held.  Please keep the family in your prayers. 

Tornado Victims - Continue to pray for the victims of the extreme tornadoes that ripped through the United States in May and June. 

Berny Carlsson - Swedish Union Youth Director, underwent a reconstruct on his ACL liagment for his right knee. Remember him in his long recovery.

Personnel Changes

Rodlie Ortiz: After serving at Carrollwood Adventist Church, in Florida since 2003, Rodlie will move to Berrien Springs, MI where he will be working with young adults in Evangelism at Pioneer Memorial Church. 

Jose Cortes: Jose will be transitioning from the Greater New York Conference to the Atlantic Union where he will serve as the new Youth Director. 

Geert Tap: Has accepted the call to serve as Senior Pastor for the Central London Church. He will focus on young adult ministry and worship.

Connecting With a Lost Generation: According to Rajkumar Dixit, the largest age group in America,  the Millennial Generation, is also one of the most difficult generations to reach.  This makes communication key, mostly through social media.  Tell us what you think! Adventist Parenting Survey: Pacific Press announced the launch of a survey designed to assist the NAD Family Ministries Department to gather data needed in the development of a new multi-media parenting resource. Take the 16 question survey

America's Four Gods: In their book, America's Four Gods, Paul Froese and Christopher Bader look into how people's views of God affect their lives.  In their research they found: 

  • 28% of Americans view God as authoritarian
  • 21% view God as benevolent
  • 21% view God as critical
  • 24% view God as distant
  • 5% of Americans are either atheists or agnostics.

Tobacco Stats: The World Health Organization states over 6 million people die each year from tobacco use or exposure to tobacco. By 2030, tobacco related deaths are expected to rise to 8 million unless action is taken. (Source: ADRA Media Update, 31 May 2011.)
