The more we learn about COVID-19, the clearer one thing becomes—stronger, more resilient primary health care (PHC) systems are needed to quell this pandemic and prepare for the next. That transformation will require investment, equity, and collaboration. And to that end, PATH is launching a new, fully integrated Primary Health Care program, which I have the privilege of leading.

As vaccines and variants (rightfully) dominate current headlines, my colleagues and I—and public health professionals around the world—are already hard at work building the health systems of tomorrow. On February 24, 2021, we are delighted to host a thought-provoking discussion on pandemic-proofing PHC (and you’re invited! details below).

Though we’re working to transform PHC systems for the long-term, this month’s PATH Insights answers questions for the nearer-term: When will we reach herd immunity? Will mRNA vaccines influence vaccine manufacturing? How can the Biden-Harris administration support global public health? Can digital tools decentralize contact tracing?

Thank you for reading. And thank you for your commitment to health equity.
