A buzz of excitement is pulsing through the harbour city, with winter officially kicking off tomorrow and Vivid Sydney’s stellar program of Light, Music, Ideas and Food continuing to innovate, entertain and inspire.

Keep the adventure going during your Vivid Sydney visit by exploring natural wonders just outside of the city – this week’s guide, Seven Short Getaways after Vivid Sydney features a treasure trove of experiences, from hiking into the mountains to tasting wine from the barrel.

As you’ll see in this week’s Event Spotlight, the inspiration continues beyond the lights. From 5-16 June, the Sydney Film Festival showcases 250 films at 12 venues across the city, and you can cheer on the Blues as rugby league’s men’s and women’s State of Origin series fire up footy fans at Accor Stadium (5 June) and Newcastle’s McDonald Jones Stadium (6 June).

Dark Spectrum: A New Journey | 24 May – 15 June 
An electronic labyrinth of light, colour and sound will pulse to life when Dark Spectrum: A New Journey reawakens deep beneath the streets of Sydney from 24 May to 15 June as part of Vivid Sydney 2024. Last year, this subterranean experience first captivated visitors and the all-new immersive experience for 2024, invites visitors to revel in state-of-the-art lighting, laser and video effects unlike anything you’ve seen before. Lightscape| 24 May – 15 June

Experience an entirely new trail of breath-taking lightworks created by acclaimed local and international artists snaking its way around the stunning harbourside gardens. Wander beneath towering tree canopies illuminated in colour, stroll beneath larger-than-life flowers and through dynamic, glowing tunnels. CommBank Matildas v China | 3 June
The CommBank Matildas will host reigning AFC Women’s Asian Cup™ champions, China PR, at Accor Stadium on Monday 3 June. The match marks the second fixture in Australia’s two match international series against China PR and the return of the CommBank Matildas to Sydney following their transformational run at last year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023™.

State of Origin | 5 June 
The 2024 Ampol State of Origin series will kick off on Wednesday 5 June in Sydney, with NSW and Queensland set to battle it out at Accor Stadium for the all-important series opener. To purchase tickets, head to nrl.com/tickets.  

Australian Little League Baseball Championships | 5 – 10 June

Vivid Ideas: Champions of Change: Mackenzie Arnold and Tony Gustavsson | 10 June 
Grace Gill, Matildas alumni and journalist, will moderate an inspiring conversation as part of Vivid Ideas with CommBank Matildas’ Mackenzie Arnold and head coach Tony Gustavsson. The chat will explore the dynamic between coach and athlete and offer an in-depth look at the pressures and achievements encountered and their individual journeys in women’s football. Moama Lights | 5 – 28 July
Heading into its fourth year, Moama Lights invites you to embark on an extraordinary journey through sound and light. This year's theme ‘Enchanted Nights: A Celebration of Light’ honours the captivating beauty of Horseshoe Lagoon. The show will capture elements of nature that come to life when the sun sets allowing the vibrant night-time ecosystem of the Lagoon to shine through.
