Mexico was shaken last Thursday by an 8.2 magnitude earthquake. It is the largest earthquake recorded in Mexico in the last 100 years. Damages in the southeastern part of the country are of great magnitude, where more than 90 people lost their lives, thousands of homes have been affected and at least 800,000 people suffer because of the impact of this earthquake -- mainly in the states of Oaxaca and Chiapas.
Hope Force International, and the Hope Force team in Mexico, have been evaluating the needs and making the necessary preparations to respond in support of our neighbors in need.
Hope Force team members are already in Juchitan, Oaxaca -- one of the municipalities most affected by the earthquake -- establishing the base from where we will be working and coordinating support to the Damnficada population.
