PreK4 eNews

Next week we will enjoy learning about pumpkins!  On Wednesday, we are having a “portable” pumpkin patch come to help us learn how pumpkins grow.  Each child will get to choose a small pumpkin to take home. Children need to wear their red field trip shirts on Wednesday. To complete our unit on pumpkins, we will make a pumpkin treat! What a fun and tasty week ahead!

So far, students have learned the letters Cc, Aa, Dd, Oo, Gg, Mm, Ll, and Hh.  Encourage your child to find these letters in books, on signs, in magazines, etc. Then, ask your child to tell you the sound that the letters make.  Thank you for reinforcing this important pre-reading skill at home!

Next Week

  • Bible Verse: “Be kind and loving to each other.” Ephesians 4:32 (We will recite this verse in chapel on Thursday.  Practice at home too!)
  • Bible:  King David is Kind
  • Reading/Phonemic Awareness: We will introduce the letter “Tt” and the sound that /t/ makes. (Think turtle and tiger.)
  • Math:  #6
  • Unit: Pumpkins
  • Show and Tell:  Bring something that begins with the letter and sound of /Tt/.

Important Dates

  • October 31 - Picture Retakes: This is for those who were absent or wish to have pictures retaken. Please return the original photo package on this day if you want to have your child’s picture retaken.
  • October 31 - Legacy Farms will bring their portable pumpkin patch to visit.  Children need to wear their red field trip shirt. PreK4 is not participating in jersey day!  If your child is having his/her picture retaken, please wear a regular dress code shirt to school and send the red field trip shirt with your child.
  • November 5-9 - Scholastic Book Fair in our school library.  You may visit the book fair before or after school with your child!
  • November 6 - Pancake Supper & Blue/Gold Game: The Shiloh Band and Basketball teams will host a pancake dinner, followed by the Blue/Gold basketball scrimmage games. Tickets are $5 and may be purchased from any band student or basketball player.
