Click here ACAPTA winding upDear ACAPTA Members and Friends Further to my communication of 14 March, the ACAPTA membership has at its special general meeting of 1 April 2017 resolved to wind up the organisation by end of June 2017. As per the Board’s recommendation it has been agreed that services be transferred to Theatre Network Australia. The transition will be managed over the next few months to ensure as little disruption as possible. If you are a 2017 Financial member you may be entitled to a refund of your dues. I will be sending you an email in the near future explaining how you may claim this refund. In reaching this position I would like to thank Andrew Bleby for his careful consideration of the sector’s needs, Creative Victoria for its support and TNA for its good will in exploring this option and placing the interests of the Circus and Physical Theatre sector first and foremost. I would also like to thank my fellow Board members for their preparedness to make tough decisions, and for their wise counsel over a difficult period. While there is always sadness in closing an organisation, the Board and I are optimistic about the future of Circus and Physical Theatre in Australia, and I am convinced that a transition to new management of services by TNA will be able to properly champion our sector both in advocacy to Governments - Federal, State and Local - and by continuing to manage and develop the services that we have initiated. Can I also recommend that you look at the new online forum Circus Network Australia www.circus.net.au which is an interesting new initiative offering a platform for communication and connection. I am confident that Australian circus will continue to thrive and to challenge audiences about what they consider possible both on a local and global level, by demonstrating excellent skill, and showcasing awe inspiring artistry.
