Click here Barnard College Update - Thursday, Sept. 21, 2017Dear Claremont resident: We mentioned a few weeks ago that we anticipated a few Claremont Avenue closures this fall as we receive several deliveries of large equipment and materials. The first of these closures will occur this Sunday, Sept. 24 when a small crane will be brought onto Claremont Avenue to move equipment onto the tower. We apologize in advance for the timing of this work, as we try to avoid work on weekends and particularly on Sundays. Crane operation and timing of lifts in New York City is highly regulated by the Department of Buildings as well as by crane availability, and Barnard has little control over the schedule. We also did not want to schedule this work for next Saturday given it is a religious holiday. Claremont Avenue from W. 116th Street to W. 120th Street will be closed to traffic and parking beginning early Sunday morning. The street should reopen by late afternoon. Since Claremont will be closed very early Sunday morning and cars will not be permitted to park on either side of the street, we recommend that you move your car before midnight Saturday as the City will begin towing early Sunday morning. In addition to the street closure, the Barnard campus entrance at W. 119th Street and Claremont will be closed as well. If you need to move between Claremont and Broadway, you will need to cross at either 116th or 120th, but you will be able to walk up and down the west side of Claremont. We appreciate your understanding. Schedule Other than the above-mentioned Sunday work, the schedule continues to be Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. - 6:30 p.m. and Saturdays, 9 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Questions?
