DSL Introduction

We are a specialist building company catering to the needs of the elderly and less able. We were established almost 20 years ago and have a fantastic team of fitters and management staff, all with many years service and experience in this very specialised field.

We have branches in Farnborough, Hants and Sittingbourne, Kent from which we serve the south east of England. We undertake work for Private Clients and Grant funded works for local authorities. We also have several contracts in place with Councils and Housing Associations.

We are happy to carry out any works from fitting a single grab rail up to the full adaptation of a large family home and can include all trades.

Introducing the SteadFast Product Range from DSL

DSL have been working with several leading companies to put together a range of door automation related products which we will market under the name of "SteadFast".

The "SteadFast" range will include:

Composite doors with level threshold
Automatic multipoint locking systems
Door openers
And many different options for activating and operating these doors.

This range has been designed using products that have been approved by the Metropolitan Police "Secured By Design".

We will bring you further information early in the New Year.

Q: Which Flooring is best for a wet floor shower?

A: Firstly, it is important to understand that a typical shower room is divided into the wet area and the dry area.

If Altro products are used, following their own recommendations, Only Altro Marine 20 can be used in the wet area and Altro Walkway in the dry! Oddly the 2 ranges have different colours / patterns so matching the two half of the bathroom is difficult.

A better choice is to used Tarkett Aqua Safetread which can be used in both the wet and dry areas.

Q: Should a tray former be used in a concrete floor?

A: Almost never. A competent fitter can set a gulley into the floor and create the necessary falls within the shower area without a tray former.

It is a fallacy that it is quicker to use a former as you still have to dig out the floor and then set the tray into mortar and then make good to the edges before the vinyl can be laid. In many cases the tray former causes more problems than it solved.

News from DSL Sittingbourne

The update for 2010 culminates to some good news; we have been informed that we have won a contract with Russett Homes! We also continue to work with all our very happy contacts, in particular with Gravesham & Orbit.

DSL Sittingbourne went out for a lovely Indian meal as their Christmas get together. Meals ranging from very mild to special extra hot curries was purpose-made, and a great laugh was had by all!

Andy & Louise would like wish to everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

News from Angie Emery, Finance Director for DSL

Things to look forward to in the New Year are, the building of our new showroom/assessment area (again keep track of progress on Twitter and Facebook), and also the implementation of a Staff Reward/Incentive scheme. Staff that have gone the 'extra mile' will be rewarded with a Certificate and maybe even a bottle of their favourite tipple! I will also be posting their achievements on our Newsletter for you all to see.

Our Farnborough and Sittingbourne branches have been celebrating the Festive Season, and enjoying bowling/curry/pub nights out. Everyone behaved themselves and the pictures can be seen on DSL's Facebook page - I only had to leave a few photos out!

We would like to take this opportunity to say a big 'Thank You' to all our friends and customers for supporting us over the years. From our point of view DSL will, as always, endeavour to keep up its high standards and excellent Customer Care as we go forward into 2011.

So I would like to take this opportunity of wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Prosperous 2011!
