THE WEEK AHEAD at the UN SECURITY COUNCIL

26 - 30 November 2018

On Thursday (29 November), the Security Council will have a briefing by Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs Mark Lowcock on the Syria humanitarian situation, followed by consultations.  

At press time, members had begun negotiating a resolution on Yemen..

At the subsidiary body level, the Working Group on Peacekeeping meets on Tuesday (27 November). On Wednesday (28 November), there will be a meeting of the 2242 Informal Expert Group on Women, Peace and Security on Libya. On the same day there will be joint informal consultations of the 1267/1989/2253 and 1988 Committees. On Thursday (29 November), the 1373 Counter-Terrorism Committee will hold a formal meeting to discuss visits by the Committee to Australia, Mali, New Zealand and Saudi Arabia.

Late Thursday and Friday, the 15 current Council members and the incoming five (Belgium, Dominican Republic, Indonesia, Germany and South Africa) will attend the annual “Hitting the Ground Running” workshop organised by Finland.
