Research Update

Good afternoon,

Linked below is the Import-Export Report for June 2019.

Here are a few key findings:

  • The volume of beer imported into the U.S. increased by 4.3% during June 2019, the fourth consecutive month of import growth.
  • Consumer spending on imported beer increased by an estimated 5.9% during June.
  • U.S. beer import volume is now up 2.4% year-to-date through June.
  • Mexican imports grew by 3.4% during June, the softest import trend since February.
  • Dutch import volume declined slightly in June and is down about 5% year-to-date.
  • Belgian and German imports were both up double digits in June.
  • Beer exports declined by double digits.  2019 has not seen any growth in exports YTD.  The continued decline is partially due to  strong performance of the U.S. dollar compared to other major currencies, including the Mexican peso and the euro.
