Join the CHS Walk in Her Shoes Team
The whole school community is invited to join Crofton House School’s team at the CARE Canada Walk in Her Shoes event on Sunday, March 8. This family-friendly event begins with a kick-off at Creekside Community Recreation Centre from 8:30 am to 9:30 am. Starting at 10:00 am, participants will walk 10,000 steps, the number of steps that represents the typical distance girls and women in developing countries have to travel each day to collect essentials for survival like firewood and water – tasks that often prevent girls from being able to attend school. All funds raised will go towards CARE Canada's Malawi project supporting healthy moms and babies. View more information about this initiative. The event is free for youth under 17 and $25 for those over 17. Join the team.

Making No-Sew Blankets for Donation
As part of the Ivy Compass program, Junior and Senior School students were invited to sign-up to help make “no sew” blankets with fabric donated from local company Lunapads. The soft, colourful blankets will be donated to the Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre.
At lunchtime, Senior School students met in the Rounda and science rooms and started the blankets.
During Junior School lunch, the blanket activity was carried on by Grade 4 and 5 students.
Languages Celebration Week
January 27 to January 31 was Languages Celebration Week in the Senior School with a different activity scheduled each day. On Monday, there was a ribbon dance lesson in the gym. On Tuesday (pictured), students and staff contributed to a display in the Senior School foyer, sharing a meaningful heritage celebration. There was a clear theme among the contributions – our most meaningful heritage days are the ones where we spend time with family.
On Wednesday, there was an open mic with cultural sharing in Manrell Hall. Thursday (pictured), students made crepes. Friday, staff and students were invited to wear a heritage outfit.
CHS Exchange Program
Our exchange students have arrived at their host schools. During their exchange, students will be writing guest blogs for the school website. This week, two Grade 10 students, Shae and Gabrielle, share their first impressions of St. Hilda’s School in Queensland, Australia.
Grade 6/7 Discovery Sharing
Grade 6 and 7 shared their Discovery Projects with each other. Discovery is a component of the Applied Design Skills and Technology curriculum in the Junior School Middle School where students gain applied, hands-on experience. The projects require students to research, apply creativity, problem solve, and reflect, within the context of the learning. Students can participate in one of eight modules Future Builders (pictured), Jewelry, All the World’s a Stage, Let’s Code, Comic Book Creation, Scrapbooks, Keep it Calm, or Video Production.
