Research Update

Good afternoon,

Linked below is the State Shipments for April 2019.

Here are a few key findings:

  • Total U.S. beer shipment volume increased by 1.1% during April 2019, and total beer spending increased by an estimated 2.7%.
  • April had one more selling day during 2019 than it had during 2018.  The adjusted volume trend for April was -3.5%.
  • April’s shipment trend was impacted by a general price increase, which had not taken place during the same period in 2018.
  • FMB shipments, including hard seltzers, are growing fast, and brewers continue to report that their distributor partners are building up inventories of these products to satisfy demand throughout the summer.
