Food Code changesNew provisions to the AANA Food and Beverages Advertising and Marketing Communications Code now apply to all advertisers marketing food and beverages to children or in children’s media. Ad Standards partnered with the AFGC for an online webinar that explains how these changes could affect your upcoming advertising campaigns. Religious languageIn May, the Ad Standards Community Panel (the Community Panel) looked at complaints about an advertisement for mattresses. Complainants were concerned about the language used in the ad, however the Community Panel dismissed the complaints finding the word ‘Jesus’ was used as an expression of frustration and is consistent with everyday Australian language. All Ad Standards Community Panel determinations are published online at www.adstandards.com.au Weapons in video gamesComplaints about an advertisement for a video game were dismissed by the Community Panel. Complainants were concerned about the weapons displayed in the ad, but the Panel found the inclusion of weapons was justifiable in the context of advertising the game. |
