Barnard College Construction Update - March 3, 2016

Dear Neighbor,

We continue to clean and clear out Lehman Hall in preparation for demolition, which we now expect to start in mid-March. One of the last pieces of prep work we will be doing is building the hard cover over the air-handling unit on the roof of the Barnard Hall Annex.  Other than that, we are currently planning for the upcoming demolition and expect to have little construction activity over the next two weeks. On Monday, we cut and capped the Claremont-side sewer and water lines that connected to Lehman Hall earlier this week. We appreciate your patience with that work, especially the work we had to do in the middle of the street.

We have received a few queries regarding noisy work that was done late Monday night on Claremont Avenue. Our Public Safety officers also heard the noise and went to investigate; they learned that the work was being done by the City’s Department of Environmental Protection. This work was not connected to Barnard, nor were we notified by the DEP that they had scheduled this work during the overnight hours.

Questions?

We appreciate your consideration and patience. For general questions and comments, please email me at newbuilding@barnard.edu. If you have an urgent issue that needs to be addressed immediately, please email constructionteam@barnard.edu during regular work hours, or call Barnard Public Safety at 212/854-3362 outside of regular work hours.

You can also find our overall construction plan and specific construction-related FAQs on our website: http://barnard.edu/about-barnard/new-teaching-learning-center/construction-faqs.

Have a great rest of the week.

Sincerely,

Quenta Vettel, Communications Director, Special Projects
