Devastating floods in the Indian state of Kerala have killed more than 300 people. Though deforestation and poor planning both contributed to the disaster, it ultimately wouldn’t have happened without weeks of heavy monsoon rains. So is climate change to blame? Museveni’s heavy-handed reaction to the popularity of singer turned politician Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, known as Bobi Wine, has shocked and angered Ugandans. Jimmy Spire Ssentongo explains why the “Free Bobi Wine” movement could easily take on a broader form in a country desperate for change.
