“…on Thursday, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s spring outlook reported that the situation for the central US is soon going to get much, much worse. The extensive flooding we’ve seen in the past two weeks will continue through May and become more dire and may be exacerbated in the coming weeks as the water flows downstream,” said Ed Clark, director of NOAA’s National Water Center in Tuscaloosa, Alabama in a statement. “This is shaping up to be a potentially unprecedented flood season, with more than 200 million people at risk for flooding in their communities.”
Currently, there are some communities that can now be accessed as levels have dropped in recent days. HFI is reaching out to various contacts in an effort to ascertain our target location. Simultaneously, supplies, equipment, and other resources are being readied as a part of the preparation process.
In many ways, the most vital component to any relief effort is the people responding to the call for help. You are needed – and without you, there is no response. As you prayerfully consider this appeal for help, please know that a willing heart and a readiness to roll up your sleeves and go to work can have a lasting impact of hope.
As is often the case at this stage, details will be forthcoming shortly. What we need to know right now is whether or not you can join the effort – and if so, when and for how long? If you cannot go immediately, could you perhaps go in the future? If you can’t go, would you please consider giving financially, and of course – all of us can pray.
As already noted, this situation is likely to be ongoing. Please pray for provision, wisdom, endurance, strength and discernment in the days ahead. Continue to pray for survivors, church and governmental leaders and Hope Force International as well. If you can join us in the midwest flood response, please contact us ASAP via email at: accounting@hopeforce.org.
Thank you…and know we are grateful for you!
