This prestigious honour was recently awarded by the Peñín Guide 2016, Spain's most famous and comprehensive wine guide, written by legendary Guía Peñín. And the wine on the receiving end of his greatest praise?

The name is quite the mouthful, and we feel that does the wine a world of justice. Having tasted the Palacio De Fefiñanes Albariño III Año 2012, we were blown away. Bodegas Del Palacio De Fefiñanes Albariño III Año 2012

The 'Tercer Año' has a slow fermentation in steel followed by long ageing on lees. After racking (transfer from one barrel to another by gravity rather than a pump, for extra care), it is aged for a further two years before bottling in its third year, hence the name.

Expect aromas of mango, pineapple, honeyed peach, bags of juicy apple and gooseberry hints. There's an underlying hint of peppery spice and a creamy note there too. The palate is sublime - light to medium bodied, it enters with fresh green apple, lovely creamy hazelnut and a fantastic underbite of acidity. The acidity is key, accentuating all of that fresh, crisp fruit perfectly, making it so mouthwatering and zingy. Peach, lively stone fruit, lemon and lime; and an elegant nutty, bready feel from the lees ageing. Outstanding length and finish, an all round stunner.
