Nicola Gunn / Sans Hotel - Piece for Person and Ghetto Blaster
13 - 19 Feb 2016

From riveting and subversive theatre-maker Nicola Gunn comes Piece For Person and Ghetto Blaster: the story of a man, a woman and a duck. Preoccupied by how social conventions obstruct the possibility of personal liberation, Piece for Person and Ghetto Blaster is a duet between physical action and spoken language, creating a space for dialogue.

Ahilan Ratnamohan - Drill
24 - 27 Feb 2016

Three athletes meet in a late night, never-ending training session. A strange form of non-competitive competition unfolds before the audience. Sweaty machismo gets a poetic makeover as sprinting, jumping, falling and accelerating merge in an indefinable training sequence. Drill is an exploration of the choreographic potential of athletic movement and training that revels in an exhausted euphoria.

Watch this space, Drill will be on sale soon!

PICA Awarded Lead Organisation Status by DCA

PICA is thrilled to announce that it is one of only two organisations in Western Australia to have been afforded "Lead Organisation" status by the WA State Government's Department of Culture and the Arts (DCA).

"We always knew it – but it is great boost to be officially recognised in this way! It is a formal acknowledgement of our significant profile and essential role within Western Australia’s cultural landscape” says PICA Director Amy Barrett-Lennard.

It is also is an acknowledgement of PICA's national and international standing and the leadership role we play in the arts and culture sector. DCA sees Lead Organisations as providing infrastructure and services of scale and strategic significance for the WA arts sector and broader community. Although the department's limited funding pool meant that we were not awarded any additional funding, we have managed to maintain current funding levels and up to three, three year funding contracts - nine years in total.
