BORDEAUX TASTING NEXT WEEK!

After a couple of good vintages, we thought it was about time we got back on the Bordeaux wagon.

While often quite stern in its youth, Bordeaux really comes into its own with some age. So, it is with much delight that we are able to offer a handful of seats to a very small and intimate evening with Lucas Leclercq from Chateau Lafon-Roche, a 4th Growth Chateau based in St. Estephe on Bordeaux’s left bank.
 
Looking at only young Bordeaux can get a little tiresome, se we’ve thrown together a host of older vintages covering four decades, including the much lauded 2000 and 2005 vintages, alongside a younger example for comparison.
 
With a maximum of 10 seats available, this is a great opportunity to sit down and pick the brains of a rising star in Bordeaux.

So say Ministry of Clouds winemakers Bernice Ong and Julian Forwood. With over 20 years combined experience in the wine industry, the pair launched their brand a few short years ago and have acheived a cult following in an incredibly short space of time. Based in McLaren Vale, they bring us the best of modern McLaren Vale red winemaking: earthy, savoury Tempranillo, Grenache, Mataro and Shiraz, as well as an elegant Tasmanian Chardonnay and a Clare Valley Riesling - freedom indeed.
 
Come on down for a taste and to meet the pair this evening from 5 - 7pm or Saturday from 2 - 5pm, or enjoy a glass in the Tasting Room all weekend!

If you've read the email blasts before or been into the shop, you know we're huge fans of the North West of Italy: from Barbera to Barolo we dig them all. So, when we heard that Eleonora Barale of Fratelli Barale was going to be in town, we just had to get her into the store! Eleonora is described by Italian wine guru David Ridge as one of the most charismatic figures in Piedmont so we knew we had to get the two of them together in front of an audience.

We featured a few of the Barale wines at our Piedmont session late last year, and they turned out to be some of the hits of the evening, so now we're really hanging out to see the entire range plus a few older drops!
