Three Minute Thesis (3MT)

Imagine trying to condense years of complex research and fieldwork into one-slide and a three-minute thesis. That’s the challenge (and opportunity) presented to graduate students in the Three Minute Thesis (3MT), an exciting academic competition that assists current graduate students with fostering effective presentation and communication skills.

Animal Research Ethics Workshop

When: Monday, Jan 26, 9-10am
Where: B640

Workshop participants will be given a brief overview of the Canadian Council on Animal Care, and its role in oversight of the ethical use and care of animal in science throughout Canada.  Participants will also be introduced to the internationally accepted tenet of the Three Rs (Replacement, Reduction and Refinement) that guides those using animals for scientific purposes. More

 
 

Human Ethics Workshop

When: Friday, Jan 23, 9-10am
Where: B640

You are invited to learn about the three ethical principles outlined in the Tri-Council Policy Statement and the role of the University ethics committees in supporting a framework of respect and mutual understanding between the researcher and research participants so that their respective roles, rights, and responsibilities can be properly understood. More

 
 

E-Thesis Submission

You are encouraged to review the revised thesis format regulations in the Policies & Procedures manuals.

E-thesis submission procedures for submitting a PDF copy of the final thesis document are available on the SGS website.

Questions regarding the e-thesis system should be directed to sgs@uleth.ca.

 

Course Changes

Students in the MA, MFA, MMus, MSc, and PhD programs are no longer required to use the Request for Course Change form to make changes to the Approved Program of Study form.

All course additions and deletions must be discussed with and approved by the Supervisor prior to registration.

Any changes to the Approved Program of Study form must be included in your next Progress & Standing report presented to Supervisory Committee Members and appear on the signed Progress & Standing form that is submitted to SGS.

 

President's Grant for International Community Engagement

This grant seeks to encourage greater interest in, and understanding of, less developed countries by supporting students who are interested in participating in international development work.

It will provide up to $5,000 for students to spend at least 3 months working in a paid or volunteer role in a developing country. More

SSHRC Storytellers

The Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council Storytellers contest is now accepting applications.

This contest is open to students who are pursuing research funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada.

Controlling Sexuality and Reproduction 2015 Conference

Call for Papers

This conference is to be held Aug 12-14, 2015 at the UofL. It will explore and challenge historical and current efforts to control certain kinds of sex and reproduction, and will examine what kinds of ‘normal’ values are being upheld.

250 word abstracts for single papers or individual presentations, and 500 words for panels should be submitted by midnight, February 15, 2015. More

Community University Research Exchange (CURE) 2015

The third annual Community University Research Exchange (CURE) event will be held on March 20.

The Office of Research & Innovation Services (ORIS) invites researchers from all disciplines to submit a 150-word abstract for a completed research project, a project in progress or a project being planned that involves an external community partner. The project is to be presented as a poster during CURE 2015 on March 20.
