Double pass to The Kill Devil Hills at Amplifier this Saturday..

Peaking Lights album 936 has been remixed check the tunes here, while you're with us ..

Amber Fresh takes us to the best parts of Scarborough, Abbe May on Spicks N Specks, man love, girl love ... and Abbe at Mojos Bar, a show that Amber also played!

Tahlia Palmer has created a learners permit, like that when we learn to drive, for alcohol. She's just sick the wayward drinkers!

Lyndon Blue takes us to Paris live music venue Point Emphere to check out Balam Acab, who you can see in Perth this Friday at the Bakery. Actual conincidence.. haha

Christopher Isaacs gives us an experiential account of the Fringe Fest & PIAF. What sounds like surrealist poetry is actually what's been happening in Perth over the past 2 weeks!

First in here gets the double pass to The Kill Devil Hills at Amplifier this Saturday night! Also playing are The Long Lost Brothers (new Tucker B & adamsaidgalore colab) & Mayor Dadi.

The Cat Empire @ Scarborough Beach Auditorium, Saturday 11 February & Abbe May @ Mojos, Sunday 12 February

So. Darling, this time… I’m sitting at the Bird, next to Jackson and Joel and Ashleigh and Hannah and Nick, and Cameron is playing melted cheese songs for Valentine’s Day, and we’re all liking it, and I’m going to use this moment to take you back to Saturday night at Scarborough Beach, a million metaphorical miles away. There were thousands of people there and apparently the Cat Empire were playing, but the real thing that happened was the sky changing.

Ok, jump-cut to Sunday night.

I’m at Mojos. Sharky has accompanied me, and there’s none of the burger problems which so marred my view and review of events a few weeks ago ...

A License to Spill

I have been a bar tender on and off for about 7 years. The first bar I worked at was G#/$#@ Bar in Perth, which at the time appeared to me to be a haven for amphetamine taking 30 something’s. One time I jumped up onto the bar and pulled this guy’s ponytail when he took his drinks away without paying. One time a girl cut her wrists in the bathrooms. One time I caught a couple doing the naughty thing on a seat next to the dance floor. One time my manager tried to convince me to come home with him. I was 17. Weird right? And then I worked at The Bakery, , also in Perth. Perth readers will know how much of a relief that place would have been for my young mind… I could meet loads of interesting people, have free entry to rad gigs, watch all the pretty boys and girls walk aroun

Tri Angle Records Presents Balam Acab, oOoOO & Holy Other @ Point Ephemere, Paris 10 Feb 2012

The train grinds to a halt and the doors sigh open. We tread up the metro stairwell, slick from snow and mud, and into the chill night air.

Le Point Epémère is a strange industrial-looking edifice, sitting grubbily beside the Canal Saint-Martin. The canal tonight is a frosted white road ...

Cow Parade Cow | BIG SKY | Album Launch

at the bird, northbridge

For a relatively young band, Cow Parade Cow has certainly been busy this past 6 months. After playing their first ever gig in a packed warehouse to playing Laneway Festival 2012, the live show has grown to an energetic, chaotic celebration of the debut LP. During all of this, the bedroom recording has continued, and the results of 2011 have been packaged neatly onto 'BIG SKY' - another offering of skewed melodies, distorted steel drums and torrents of percussion.

We most humbly announce the post-rock brilliance that is APRICOT RAIL are going to be with us to help guide you through the evening, while THE GIZZARDS are sure to dazzle and confound you with their circuit-bent pop gems. Entry from 7.30pm.

Gappy Ranks

at mojos bar

Saturday 25th Feb Sensi Sounds and EarthLink are proud to present Gappy Ranks at Mojos Bar Nth Fremantle live for 1 show You all asked for him to come back and now your wishes have been granted Gappy Ranks returns on One of the UK's hottest Reggae, Dancehall artists

Gappy Ranks was born and raised in Harlesden UK; the child of a Jamaican father and a Dominican mother. Raised around reggae music, it was only natural that Gappy would learn his lyrical craft on the soundsystem scene, which in turn lead to his studio baptism with Stonebridge stars Suncycle Crew. The young artist soon came to the attention of the legendary Peckings label, and the result was his first local hit, “Mountain Top”. The follow-up release, “Heaven In Her Eyes” took him to international stardom, and there was no looking back.

A truly dynamic artist, Gappy Ranks is as comfortable on a classic roots reggae riddim as a cutting edge dancehall beat, and his live shows are a testament to this. Don’t miss this chance to see one of the hottest reggae/dancehall artists in the world today, on top of his game!

Local support from Earthlink Sound, Sabata Sound, Iron Palm, Kriti-Cal & Mc Benitton. Doors open 8pm get there early no pre-sale tix $30 entry on the night from 8pm.

Life in Miniature

in northbridge

Cramped, cosy, cool contemporary dance.

Want to test drive life in a caravan before you take that trip around Australia? Anything is Valid Dance Theatre, a Perth-based contemporary dance company serves up their unique perspective of a road trip in the confines of a caravan at the 2012 Perth Fringe Festival.

Life in Miniature explores the great Australian caravan holiday, an experience to be endured or embraced. Reflecting on the inevitable experiences of spending long periods on the road, interactions become magnified and reality becomes distorted as two friends living out of a caravan try to survive the elements… and each other.

Funny and poignant, this is an engaging work created for an intimate audience that invites you to reflect on life on a small scale
