THE 70|30 DIFFERENCE! 70% TREATMENT + 30% PRODUCT = 100% RESULTS! AN OVERVIEW OF CLINICAL TRIALS IN THIS JUNE ISSUE: Clinical Trials: What Happens and How Does it Work? Cheryl has a Hull Lotta Love for SkinMedica's AHA/BHA Exfoliating Cleanser You're invited to our Cool Dual Event! Double Staff Spotlight: Kelley Marshall and Cheryl Hood, Licensed Medical Aestheticians Two Types of Sunscreen: The Difference Between Physical and Chemical 2019 Calendar of Events CHERYL HAS A HULL LOTTA LOVE FOR SKINMEDICA'S AHA/BHA CLEANSER SkinMedica's AHA/BHA Exfoliating Cleanser is one of my favorite products for several reasons. It is great for all skin types and gently removes dead skin cells using ultra-fine jojoba beads. It also contains Alpha-hydroxy and Beta-hydroxy which improves skin tone and texture. The use of AHA/BHA also brightens mild hyperpigmentation or other sun related discolorations of the skin. This cleanser is also great to use in the shower to treat Keratosis Pilaris- acne-like bumps that usually appear on the back of upper arms, thighs and buttocks. Continued use will greatly diminish the appearance of KP, resulting in smooth, soft skin. Be aware the use of AHA can increase sun sensitivity so it is very important to use sunscreen with 30spf or above, broad-spectrum and limit time in the sun when using this cleanser or other AHA products. You can find this cleanser at online and here at The Skin Solution, as well as other great SkinMedica products. You're Invited to our Cool Dual Event! By: Debbie Pierceall, Development Director Many of you are already familiar with the fact that we have a clinical trials division. Anyone visiting Aesthetics or The Skin Solution has passed the entrance to Northwest Arkansas Clinical Trials (NWACTC). This is an amazing resource Dr. Hull has provided for our community and it could be a very helpful avenue for so many people. Dermatological clinical trials are a type of research that study various treatments to a myriad of skin conditions. All medications must go through clinical trails before the FDA will allow them to go to market. This is why some trials are testing new medications while others are testing drugs that are already available. Some of the studies conducted by NWACTC evaluated treatments for acne, rosacea, eczema, psoriasis, hyperhidrosis, molluscum, hidradenitis suppurativa, vitiligo, hair loss, and warts. While the skin conditions are aggravating, the process of clinical trials is relatively easy. People opt to participate in these trials for a variety of reasons. If you are afflicted with a skin ailment and are at your wit's end with treatment possibilities, a clinical trials could be your answer. Other reasons include the price of medicines or lack of insurance. Clinical trials do not charge you for any medicines you take, insurance is not required, and studies even compensate you for your time and travel. But, what is the process? First, you could visit our location or the website and fill out an interest form. A member of the staff will contact you and interview you about your condition and go over the qualifications for the study. At this point, the length of study and any consents would be shared with you. Next, you would see Dr. Hull or Kendall Key, PAC to evaluate your condition and render a diagnosis. This step is necessary to move forward with the study. You may be asked to submit to lab work, have an X-Ray, or an EKG. Again, all of these requirements would be paid for by the study. The final phase would entering the study itself. By this time, you have already been informed about your role in the completion of the study. You will attend appointments and follow the guidelines for the research. Many patients have saved a great deal of money participating in these trials. Their participation is valuable as they are actively assisting in cutting-edge medical research which has the potential to bring relief to millions. If you have been suffering from a skin condition, give the staff at Northwest Arkansas Clinical Trials a call. They have new studies all the time and may be able to help you find the relief you need. They can be reached at 479-876-8205. Two Types of Sunscreen: The Difference Between Physical and Chemical We always have people asking about sunscreen and how to pick the best one. The graphic above is a great reference for deciding what to use. When looking at sunscreens, choose brands that are at least SPF 30 and broad spectrum. This protects you against harmful UVA and UVB rays. Look for active ingredients like Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide for added protection. Next, always use a golf ball size amount of sunscreen and apply it 15 minutes before exposure so your skin has a chance to absorb it. Finally, reapply often and stay safe! I have some exciting news to share about some changes happening in the near future. I am getting married in July to an amazing man and will be starting a new chapter in my life. The sad news is I am also moving out of state and will be leaving Hull Aesthetics. I would first like to thank Dr. Hull and her staff for giving me this opportunity at Hull Aesthetics. I've learned so much and have grown as an Aesthetician and will take skills learned with me as I continue my career in aesthetics. I would also like to thank my co-workers for making my time here so enjoyable and educational. I have made some life-long friends and will miss you all so much. I have never worked with such amazing group of women and feel very blessed to have gotten to know you. I love my Hull girls! Last and certainly not least, I would like to thank my clients/patients who have been loyal and allowed me the opportunity to care for their skin needs. I leave here knowing you will be in good hands with the wonderfully, skilled aestheticans on staff. Again, thank you all so much and God Bless! While I will be continuing as an aesthetician at Hull Dermatology and Aesthetics, I will be expanding my responsibilities to include phlebotomy. As a phlebotomist, I will be drawing and spinning blood for our PRP (protein rich platelets) treatments, including Microneedling. I am excited about this new opportunity to expand my skill set and serve our patients. In addition, I will be managing the Brilliant Distinctions program, which will allow our patients to earn, use points, and redeem coupons for Botox, Fillers, SkinMedica skin care products and Coolsculpting. If you have any questions about how to participate or use this program please do not hesitate to contact me. I look forward to being your aesthetician while also serving you in my new roles at Hull Dermatology and Aesthetics. Missed Appointment Policy At Hull Dermatology & Aesthetics, we are dedicated to our patient care and service. We try to contact all of our patients at least 8 hours before their scheduled appointment to remind them of the date and time. In the event that you are unable to keep a scheduled appointment, we request that you inform us by telephone at least 8 hours in advance. This allows us time to contact patients on our waiting list and offer the time slot to them. Our providers’ time is valuable as we always have an extensive waiting list of both new and established patients. Patients who do not notify us at least 8 hours before their scheduled appointment time will be considered a “no show” and will be assessed a $50 fee per 30 minutes scheduled. Thank You! We at Hull Dermatology & Aesthetics are thankful for all of our patients. To our existing patients, I say thank you. For our new patients that are just joining our family, I welcome each of you. My staff and I are dedicated to providing outstanding medical and cosmetic dermatology for the Northwest Arkansas area and beyond. Thank you for choosing Hull. Sincerely, Cheryl A. Hull, M.D. |
