There is so much happening on Beaufort Street we are being run off our feet trying to keep up with it! Our little street sure doesn't rest when it comes to change and keeping its community guessing. This week we have information about upcomming and past events, new cafes, new members and even a little something about the solar system! This years is turning out to be a year of new beginings anf new adventures!

Most of our friends, members and supporters would have heard by now that we have decided not to go ahead with the Festival this year. We have loved the Festival but feel it’s time to try something different and rather than spending a year planning a one day event we feel our energy should be put into more community events spread out across the year. We have some great plans so stay tuned. It is our intention to listen to the community and towards the end of the year we will be seeking the opinion of our members whether to continue with the Festival next year or plan another year of community events. It has been decided that the Crust Pizza and Croquet Community Event will be postponed till the 10th of April from 3 pm-7 pm. The extra time will allow for everyone to make plans in advance and purchase tickets for what’s sure to be a great day of fun and pizza! Forrest Park Croquet Club, Mount Lawley is a BYO licensed venue , tickets will cost $40 for all participants 12 years and above, 12 and under play for free. All proceeds will be going to the Beaufort Street Network to create more community driven events for the people of Mount Lawley. We hope to see you there!

Last month we held our first Networking event proudly hosted by Travel and Sports Australia (link to the their website) in their amazing new office in Beaufort Street. Drinks and food were generously donated by Crust Gourmet Pizza Bar Mt Lawley (link), Junkboat Vietnamese (link), Five Bar (link) with door prizes donated by Method Clothing (link) and Beaufort Realty (link). These events provide an opportunity for our local businesses to get together and meet the local residents, we all understand the benefit of “shop local” and are looking forward to the next Sundowner in a couple of months.

The Beaufort Street Solar System Stroll is a fun and insightful way to learn about our solar system. With the help of local resident Rory Deegan we have designed a walk which perfectly represents the sizes of and distances between each planet. The scale has been worked out exactly so that 1 millimetre equals 3,725 kilometres. It sure gives you an appreciation of how big each planet is and the incredible size of the solar system.

Rory’s hard work was funded by the second round of the Better Beaufort Grant competition. So go for a stroll down Beaufort Street and experience the solar system walk for yourself.
