CHAMPIONSHIP POA
SEPTEMBER 2021 NEWSLETTER

BOARD OF DIRECTORS CHANGES

At the September Championship Board of Directors Meeting several changes were announced to Board membership. Board President Joe Gallucci who has served on the Championship Board for more than 8 years, announced his retirement effective with that meeting. Joe served as President of the Board for most of those years and is credited with many accomplishments and improvements made within the community. The Board thanked Joe immensely and wished him well in his retirement.

Tom Murphy, who had served for many years as Vice President, moved up to the President's position and promised the Board that he would work hard to follow the leadership role that Joe had taken and to continue to make improvements in the overall Eagleton community. Tom immediately named Director Tom Sedita of Augusta Pointe as the Board's new Vice President and his appointment was confirmed by a vote of the Board.

BY-LAW CHANGES

The Board recently sent out a copy of the approved amendments to the Championship POA By-Laws. The purpose of the changes was to make future Board elections run smoothly and efficiently by establishing staggered terms, allowing interested individuals to self-nominate, and by allowing the use of Limited Proxies to cast the votes in future elections.

If for some reason you have not received the By-Law amendments in the US Mail, please contact the Property Manager's office at (561) 625-8588.

REGULAR AND ANNUAL MEETINGS

The POA Board typically meets monthly although it will sometimes skip a meeting or two in the summer months. With Covid seeming to be coming under some control, the Board has stopped meeting by Zoom and now meets regularly in the offices of our Property Manager at 300 Avenue of the Champions. The next Regular Board meeting is scheduled for October 20th, 2021, at 2:00 PM (always the third Wednesday).

The Board also set the date for the next Annual Meeting as March 16th, 2022. That meeting is typically held at the offices of the PGA Property Owners Association, 7100 Fairway Drive - but the Board will advise more details as we get closer to March 2022.

PROJECTS

At this month's meeting the Board reviewed several current and upcoming projects as follows:

Gate House renovations.
The Board has signed a contract for the renovation of the Eagleton Gate House on Avenue of the Champions. The building was built in the mid-1980s and has served the community well but is now due for some upgrades and improvements. All the contracted changes are interior to the gatehouse except for the replacement of windows with impact resistant glass. We anticipate that the renovations will have very little effect on the flow of traffic during the renovation period but ask homeowners to bear with us as work progresses.

Comcast conversion to fiber optics
Comcast has informed the Board that all the work to install fiber optics cable within Eagleton is completed! The next phase of the switchover from copper wire to the higher speed fiber is for each homeowner to contact Comcast and have them make the (free) switchover within their individual residence. The sooner everyone does that, the sooner Comcast will remove the old pillars from in front of our houses. To contact Comcast and set up an appointment, call (800) 934-6489.

General Drive repaving
The Board anticipates repaving General Drive from Grand Cay to the rear exit gates sometime in the Spring of 2022. Proposals are currently being received and as more information is known we will keep the homeowners informed

Championship Drive/General Drive pavers
The Board is also receiving proposals for the Springtime repair/replacement of the pavers where these two roads meet. Again, as more information is known we will keep the homeowners informed.

LANDSCAPING AND TREE TRIMMING

Your Championship Board continues to work with our landscape and tree trimming companies to ensure that our community is looking its best. At the September meeting several proposals were approved for the removal and replacement of dead and dying plants and bushes along both Championship Drive and General Drive.

A separate proposal was approved for additional landscaping to be added to hide the newly installed Comcast control-box on Championship Drive directly across from the Eagleton Cove entry.

Our tree trimming company continues to work on the trees within the community to help minimize damage should we be hit with a severe windstorm or hurricane.

HOLIDAY LIGHTING

Homeowners have no doubt noticed that the contractor has begun putting up holiday lighting at the three main entrances to PGA National. Once that work is completed we anticipate them beginning their work here in Eagleton. We look forward to some wonderful display as the end of the year approaches.

CHAMPIONSHIP BUDGET

Thanks to the efforts of the Championship POA Treasurer, we are currently operating within our 2021 budget. No major expenses are anticipated before year end. The proposed 2022 Budget will be discussed and approved at the upcoming October Board meeting.
