President's Report - Thane Brady

So far so good! On and off the field we have been kicking goals.

It is very pleasing to see our new faces at the Club fitting in, and on behalf of the Club I once again welcome everyone and invite all to become financial members. The club has enjoyed an influx of many new members this season and we can always accommodate more, especially family and friends of our players, the people we are all here to support.

Games played so far across all levels by our players have been played in the spirit and professionalism expected by the club. Full credit must be awarded to all our players for adhering to the coach’s instructions and game plan. Continuous improvement is one of our aims and already so early in the season we have already witnessed significant individual and team improvement across our three teams.

From the Senior Coach - Zane Littlejohn

It has been a nice start to the year for the football club with some promising early on field performances in all 3 grades. With this being my first report of the year I would like to welcome Colin Lockhart into his role as the under 18 coach and Steven Crooks back to the club to fulfil the role as development league coach. Both men have been working really hard with the assistant coaches at getting their group to buy in to the culture of our football club. I would also like to take this opportunity to welcome all our new players and their families to the club, in what we hope you have found to be a welcoming and inclusive environment.

At senior level the on field performances have been ‘solid’ with a very promising round 1 result, beating Burnie at West Park, which hasn’t been achieved since 2006. Our round 2 result was again promising beating cross town rivals Launceston, our first win against the blues since Good Friday 2009. We hit a speed bump in round 3 losing to Clarence on Anzac day, but this has given the players a good learning curve into to what we need to do to be a really good side. Last week in Round 4 the boys put in a really hard fought effort to overrun TSL new comers the Western Storm.

I would like to thank my coaching group and players who have all put in a truck load of work to this point. The first four rounds has given us a solid foundation into the rest of the season, however we all realise we have a lot more hard work to achieve our goals for this year and we are looking forward to the challenge.

Thanks for your support so far ‘Go Bombers’

From the Under 18 Coach - Colin Lockhart

Hi all what a great start to the year for the u18, 4 wins from 4 starts and showing what a great preseason the boys have had with our pace and fitness a key to our wins.

We have played 33 boys so far with these boys coming from all over our zone 8 different schools and 1 first year apprentice (plumbing).

We have concentrated on 4 things in our first few games SDR/tackling,stoppage structures, our switch and spread and last but most important having fun and enjoying this great game and club. In the next 7 - 9 weeks we are faced with a lot of challenges like player numbers due to 19 players playing school football on Saturdays, road trips, Sunday games , colds and flu and maybe cold and wet conditions thats why we love Tassie.

I would also like to congratulate our 9 boys who made the state Under 16 state academy who will all be striving to make the final side to represent Tasmania in the up and coming carnival in Queensland in July

Visiting Club to Aurora Stadium

space
space

We were the “visiting club” for the first time at Aurora Stadium when we played the Western Storm on Saturday 3rd May.  Members should be aware and respect that as the Storm is hiring the ground for all intent and purpose it is their home ground. The Northern Bomber “Admit One” gate pass can not be used nor can the club trade during the course of the Development League and Senior match’s.

The Aurora Function Centre was open to allow our members a facility to view the game out of the extremes. It was pleasing to see many members taking advantage of this privilege, however the President of our Club had to make it clear on numerous occasions the we could not open our bar facility. It would be totally inappropriate for us to be allowed to open our bar on an away game and I’m sure if another club tried to trade against us on our home game we would be up in arms.

Confusing the issue was the matter of our canteen being open. We opened the canteen upon the invitation of the Western Strom because the food trailers previously utilised were unavailable (Agfest). We cooperated with the Storm including paying the standard Aurora Stadium commission of sales.

It will take time to adjust to being a visiting club at our home ground however our players do benefit through the extra games played at Aurora instead of an inferior ground.

The next time Western Strom hosts us at Aurora Stadium will be Saturday July 12th

A very big thank you to Andrew Woodgate who attends matches where possible and takes fantastic photos of the games.  This is very much appreciated by the Club, and I'm sure the players and supporters enjoy looking at these great photos.

Partnership with Launceston Tornadoes

space
space

Our partnership with the Launceston Tornadoes has been terrific. On two occasions so far all of our players, partners and support staff were invited to be guests at a Tornadoes home game. The Torns have treated us like royalty and put on a show on the court.

The Torns have also visited Aurora Stadium twice so far and have been very vocal in their support our players / teams.

We are all looking forward to continuing to grow our partnership between our respective clubs.
