Competition winner sings SA’s praises |
 |
 |
Every Australian should pay a visit to South Australia’s majestic Kangaroo Island.
That’s the advice of Olivera Sands from Victoria, who was the third of our lucky competition winners to claim their prize after winning a $4000 holiday as part of our Adelaide: Make The Move competition.
Olivera and her husband flew to Adelaide in October, where they spent their first day shopping in Adelaide’s famous Rundle Mall, before sampling the world-class wines on offer in the Barossa Valley.
They then spent two days touring Kangaroo Island which Olivera said was the highlight of the trip.
“Our tour guide was fantastic and it was amazing to be able to tour the island with someone that had so much local knowledge,” she said.
Olivera said South Australia was a wonderful place and the visit has reinforced her desire to move to Adelaide in the coming years.

Passage of the final Indenture Bill through Parliament has unlocked $1.2 billion for BHP Billiton to commence initial works on the project at Roxby Downs in the state’s north.
BHP Billiton’s Supplementary Environmental Impact Statement for the project, released in May 2011 anticipates as many as 6000 new jobs will be created during periods of construction, an additional 4000 full time positions following construction and the creation of an estimated 15,000 indirect jobs.
The expansion will require skilled workers across a wide range of fields including:
- Scientific and engineering services
- Manufacturing
- Mineral processing and distribution
- Specialist equipment and consumables
- Administration and business services
- Information and Communication Technology
- Transport and logistics
- Education and training
- Research and development
- Site construction, management and operations
It is now up to BHP Billiton and its board to approve the expansion next year. |

Job seekers to benefit from record number of major developments |
 |
 |
South Australia's record $109 billion in major developments are set to creat huge opportunities for businesses and job seekers across the State.
Premier Jay Weatherill announced the record figure, explained in the South Australian Major Developments Directory 2011-12, earlier this month.
The record figure shows South Australia's rapidly expanding mining, energy and defence sectors, supported by world-class services and manufacturing expertise, are attracting global investment interest.
Meanwhile, South Australia's unemployment remained unchanged during November, reflecting ongoing stability in the local economy. |
