Dear Brewmaster,

Will "Icky" be available in Modesto California anytime soon? We haven't been able to travel up to Reno in a while and would love to connect again with "Icky".

Thank you,
Bill and Candace F.

Hey Bill and Candace,

We're getting closer to you both. Right now we're being distributed as far as Roseville in California and hope to soon be distributed across Sacramento. Keep an eye out for it!

Cheers!
Tom

A Midsummer Brew Release

As we head into the sultry month of August, we have a few tricks up our sleeve to help keep people comfortable.

First up, we've released Dawn Patrol, a beautifully crisp and clear ale that dances on the palette. A portion of proceeds goes directly to the Great Reno Balloon Race to help support this iconic event.  Grab some before this seasonal brew floats away, now in 6-packs in our brewpubs and stores across the area.

If you've been searching for the next path on your journey to "beervana" may we suggest you take a gander at White Eye PA. This special 2014 Expedition Release takes you to unexpected places. Featuring our house Belgian yeast strain, this beer was created to inspire you with its layered hop profile and bright golden hazy color. Enlighten yourself quickly though, we've only brewed 300 cases. Available on tap and in 22 oz. bombers at our brewpubs and in select beer stores.

Did you feel that? It’s our Tectonic Event Imperial IPA, the second 2014 Expedition Release of the year. This is the big one you've been waiting for. With a delicate malt profile that is no match for quake after quake of powerful hops that leave your mouth wanting more. Be careful, at 9% ABV, you’ll need to tread lightly to make sure you don't lose your footing. We'll be releasing this brew in the next couple of weeks at our brewpubs and in select beer stores. Extremely limited quantities will be available.

Tectonic Event Release Party

This brew is so big, we're kicking it off with a Release Party this Wednesday, August 13, from 4-8 PM at our Taps & Tanks location (located between S. Rock Blvd. and Mira Loma Dr.) with appetizers and live music.

Come down and get shakin'!

We look forward to every Labor Day as the Best in the West Nugget Rib Cook-off explodes onto the streets of Victorian Square near our Sparks brewpub. Last year we thought we’d complement the sweet meat being savored with our very own Basin Bacon Brew, made using the finest locally smoked bacon. It was so good that we’re bringing it back for this year. Of course, we'll also have our award-winning Cerveza Chilibeso as well as a few other favorites outside for you to enjoy.  So, when you’re wrists deep in BBQ sauce, swing by and grab a pint from us.

What’s your name and how long have you been at Great Basin?

My name is Dave Miller and I've been at Great Basin for just about 5 years.

What do you do at Great Basin?

I'm the Head Brewer for the Sparks Brewery.

What’s your favorite part about your job?

I love making, crafting and, of course, tasting the beers we brew.

Tell us about the first memorable craft beer you ever had…

It was Red Nectar, when it was still being brewed by Humboldt Brewing Company. I was in San Francisco at a grocery store and liked the label, so I bought it and loved it. It is still one of my favorite Amber Ales to date.

If you were a Great Basin brew, what brew would you be?

I'd have to go with Mayan Maybe. It's a big beer, semi-sweet with chocolate and vanilla notes and it catches you off guard with little peppery kick. It leaves you thinking… What the heck was that?
