Can you tell us a little bit about your experience and the work you do?
My background is electrical engineering (with a bit of computer science). I’ve also worked as a marketing manager for a property company and packed all that in to become a freelance PHP developer. Along the way, I’ve also started/grown/sold the largest blogging platform in Africa.
I had the idea for SimpleShop when I was freelancing at an e-commerce agency and realized that the vast majority of large e-commerce firms seemed to make starting and running an online shop a far more complicated experience than necessary. I thought there was a gap in the market for a super easy to use platform where people could focus on selling things and marketing their business rather than spending hours doing basic tasks on their website.
How are you using Postmark with SimpleShop today?
We send all our mail via the API as it enables us to quickly and easily see that an email has been delivered correctly. The best feature is definitely the activity feed, it’s an incredible help when troubleshooting!
If you could give fellow developers one piece of advice about how to implement and manage their transactional email, what would it be?
Test, test, test. Once you've done that, test. Get other people to read all the emails... even if your spelling, grammar, and punctuation are amazing, it's easy to be word blind and miss the most obvious mistakes. Sending correctly worded emails is almost as important as sending them in the first place!
