InfoEd Lab Animals: Deactivation of access v. protocol roles (important for lab managers and delegates)
System access roles are separate from personnel listed on a protocol. A ticket is required to deactivate roles, which will stop email notifications. To find out if you need to submit a ticket, read more.

Coeus access - IMPORTANT information for all user additions and removals
As you bring on new hires and others take advantage of early retirement, their Coeus system access must be handled properly via an Access ticket to add or remove them. Read more.

Michael A. Kostyshak, known as “MikeK” to colleagues, retires from Brown in December. Join us in thanking Mike for his loyalty, work ethic and professionalism. Mike’s portfolio assignments have been redistributed to the Pre-Award team.

Announcing a new OSP division dedicated to research subcontracting
Under the leadership of Assistant Director Michael Liu, the new division of Research Subcontracting team will specialize in the full lifecycle of outgoing subcontracts from risk assessment through project close-out.

Proposal preparation - NIH changes become mandatory Jan. 25, 2022
NIH will soon require new Biographical Sketches and Other Support format pages. The PI and other senior/key personnel must electronically sign the Other Support form to certify the accuracy of the information provided. Read more.

December Mini Case Study Challenge
The PO for Prof. Scope’s new DOE award is requesting information regarding those who will be working on the award, i.e., name, date of birth, address, and citizenship. Sally is hesitant; can you lend her a hand?

Cost Transfer Policy update
The Cost Transfer Policy now includes a useful Over 90 Day Calculator Tool and two new cost transfer request forms with guidance.  An overview of these changes will be presented during OSP's December 9th Brown Bag.

Christina Bailey-Hytholt has been recognized in Forbes 30 under 30 in science. Christina, an incoming assistant professor at WPI, worked in the Tripathi and Shukla Labs at Brown and is a co-inventor on several Brown technologies. Read more.

New NIH Data Management and Sharing Policy
NIH released a video explaining the New NIH Data Management and Sharing Policy, which will be effective January 25, 2023.

Elimination of annual reviews for USDA-covered species
The USDA-APHIS eliminates the regulatory requirement for annual reviews December 27, 2021. Animal researchers using USDA-covered species will no longer be required to submit annual continuations in InfoEd. Send questions to IACUC@brown.edu.

HRPP Winter Break office closure and submission deadlines
HRPP will close for Winter Break on Dec. 23 and reopen Jan. 4. Submissions will be accepted until Dec. 21 at 5 pm. See the HRPP website for review times and how submissions may be prioritized.

TEA Time December pause
HRPP is pausing TEA Time during December in preparation for Winter Break. Please use the Request a Meeting option if you have questions about human subjects research.

New guidance: Ancillary Reviews
Like the IRB, there are many departments and committees at Brown that require their own reviews before research may begin. Our new guidance page on Ancillary Reviews lists the common ones and who you can contact with questions.

NIH guidance on eRA RPPR submission validations for clinical trial registration and results reporting
Updated eRA Research Performance Progress Report (RPPR) submission system validations for clinical trial registration and results reporting will impact the ability to submit RPPRs when a clinical trial is non-compliant with these requirements.

Traveling abroad over winter break?
You must adhere to Brown’s travel policies and comply with federal export control regulations when traveling with research equipment or materials. Review our international travel website and contact the Export Control Team with questions.
