Wrap up from out FIRST Sundowner for 2015

Thank you to all the people who made our first 2015 Sundowner a very special night. We were blown away to see such generosity and community spirit.

Thanks go to 2nd Avenue Plaza, Pierrots Hair Studios, 2nd Ave SIGA, Champagne Couture, Seven Willow Designs, Red Cray on Beaufort, New Place Japanese Kitchen, Beaufort Realty and the Inglewood Hotel for the food, drinks and great organisation.

A special thank you to our guest speak Barry Urquhart who gave an excellent insight into “Being different “ and “Standing out from the crowd” giving valuable tips to businesses on the strip.

Working together is the best way we can create a successful place. We really enjoyed meeting some of our members which all had a great opportunity to network with local businesses.

We can’t wait to see everyone at our next event!

Who spotted us?

We're popping up everywhere...a couple of weeks ago we attended Pride WA Fairday in Hyde Park. We shared a stall with the Bali Animal Welfare Association West Australia Inc, where we sold our fabulous cook books and had chatted to the locals...we also had a lovely new friend to chill with during the day called "Scampi" which kept us entertained all day..hmm new mascot?

We are so excited...

New artisan collective to be unveiled on Beaufort Street

The latest venture of Sioux Tempestt, local artist and entrepreneur, UnchARTed Collective is causing a stir of excitement among locals keen to take a sneak peek behind the covered windows at 745 Beaufort Street, Mount Lawley.

Tempestt is a renowned, award-winning Western Australian artist with a graphic design background who is recognised for her typographic, humorous and edgy, heritage-inspired fine art prints and abstract contemporary paintings, often depicting urban street art and graffiti style expressions.

Have a look at their facebook page Uncharted Collective and see what they are up to. Some of the featured artists will also be showcasing their work at our next Beaufort Street Art Makert :)

To the street everyone!

We loved this article (here) from the excellent website Project for Public Spaces - Reimagining our Streets as Places

Our Better Beaufort team have always touted the idea of not designing areas for people just around cars and carparking.  It should first be all about the people.

"In a city the street must be supreme. It is the first institution of the city. The street is a room by agreement, a community room, the walls of which belong to the donors, dedicated to the city for common use. Its ceiling is the sky. Today, streets are disinterested movements not at all belonging to the houses that front them. So you have no streets. You have roads, but you have no streets".
– Louis Kahn, The Street

This year we want to push the boundaries of our Street - Beaufort Street.  We want to urge you to become a part of the Street, participate, collaborate, reclaim and have an individual investment in how your 'living room' looks!

Talk to us (here) and help us Create a Better Beaufort Street.
