What's in an eye exam?

Look out!  When was the last time you had your eyes examined?

Having an examination can detect signs of vision impairment from macular degeneration to cataracts. Sometimes early signs of diseases like diabetes can be detected too.

Stop heart disease in its track

How many family, relatives and friends have you lost to heart disease?  More than you can count on one hand?

That's the harsh reality facing many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities where heart disease continues to be a leading cause of death.  

The Heart Foundation want to address this trend by providing information and encouraging individuals to reduce their risk of developing heart disease by making healthier lifestyle choices.

Short of breath?

Imagine being short of breath all the time.  This is the life of someone with COPD - chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

Because COPD affects the lungs, simple every day activites like walking up stairs or hanging out washing can sap the air and energy out of people with the condition.
