Politico co-founders John F. Harris and Jim VandeHei will talk about their vision for journalism at the National Press Foundation’s annual awards dinner on Thursday, Feb. 11.

VandeHei and Harris will receive the Benjamin C. Bradlee Editor of the Year Award at the dinner, which will also honor Charlie Rose and Diane Rehm, two new digital innovation in journalism awards, and more! See the full list of winners here.

New Journalism Award for Mental Health Reporting

The National Press Foundation has established a new journalism award to honor excellence in mental health reporting. The award, which carries a $10,000 prize, is called the Carolyn C. Mattingly Award for Mental Health Reporting, in memory of the Potomac, Maryland, philanthropist and activist. 

The award is open to any journalist at a U.S. based news organization, including print, broadcast and online journalists. The award recognizes exemplary journalism that illuminates and advances the understanding of mental health issues and treatments for the illness.

Entries are welcome for journalism published between March 1, 2015 and March 1, 2016. The application deadline is March 15, 2016.

Obesity’s Toll: Get the Skinny on Fat

The National Press Foundation has awarded 20 journalism fellowships to explore the toll of obesity on health. The five-day training session will be held in Phoenix, Feb. 21-25. Funding for this training was provided by Mayo Clinic. Recipients of the all-expenses-paid fellowships are:
