Click here 2020-2021 PARENT FAQ FOR THE START OF THE SCHOOL YEAR What will the morning drop-off look like and where will students go until the start of the day at 8:00 am. - We are asking that students be dropped off at their prospective entrance (listed below) beginning at 7:45 am. - We have added the front door as another point of entry to decrease the number of students entering the building at the same time. o Lower & Upper Elementary (Palm, Pine, & Willow) – Front Entrance (Herbert side) o Upper Elementary (Cypress, Elm, & Gingko) – Gym Entrance (Herbert side) o Middle School – Middle School Entrance (Herbert side) o Early Elementary (Acacia, Bamboo, Cedar, & Oak) – Back Entrance (Gardenia side) o Lower Elementary (Chestnut & Sassafras) – Back Entrance (Gardenia side) o Pre-Primary (Bonsai) – Back Entrance (Gardenia side) 8-8:15 am - For families who need to drop their students off at 7:30 am we have limited space in the gym, please contact Ms. Sheri, sherifolta@choiceschools.com, to reserve your spot. - Sanitizing mats have been placed at each entrance to reduce time spent on changing shoes. - The use of lockers for K-6 has been eliminated to avoid congested areas.
- Students will be eating in their classrooms or outdoors. o The FCMA custodial staff will be cleaning classrooms immediately after their lunch periods. - Students will be required to wash their hands before and after lunch. - Food will be individually wrapped.
- Yes, all FCMA students are required to wear uniforms following our dress code policy. Masks are to be character free. - Remote learners may wear uniforms or attire that reflects what they would be wearing in school.
- Until further notice, visitors and volunteers are not permitted in the buildings. - Only a student’s legal parent/guardian or emergency contact will be permitted into the building unless otherwise authorized by Administration. - Virtual meetings will be utilized when possible.
- We will have signage including arrows, stop signs and other visual cues to maintain proper social distancing protocols. - All school staff will monitor the hallways and remind students to follow social distancing expectations. As you can imagine this will be a difficult task, helpful reminders from home are appreciated.
- FCMA staff has worked to maximize the classroom space by moving shelves to the outside perimeter and spacing tables 6 feet apart. - Each classroom has a shelf designated for used works to be placed and disinfected before being returned to their proper place by an adult. - Each classroom has a UV wand, alcohol based disinfectant, Clorox wipes, and hand sanitizer.
- Due to COVID-19, any student who exhibits any symptoms or presents a temperature of 100 degrees will be required to be in isolation until they are able to leave the school campus. - A parent/guardian or emergency contact will be called to immediately pick the student up. Please ensure that you or a designated adult are available at all times in the event that your student needs to be picked up. Please ensure designated adults bring their photo ID.
- Students will be dismissed at 3:15 pm, 11:30 am on half days, and 1:30 pm on each Friday early dismissal days. o Each family will be given two name cards with their child/children’s family name and classroom(s) on each card. These cards should be placed on the back of your vehicle’s visor or on the passenger side dashboard, visible at all times. The parents then will pull up to four cones in front of the school where a staff member will radio to the classroom to dismiss those children at that time. Parents should not turn off the car or get out to help their child(ren). Staff members will be there to aid the student entering the vehicle. For the safety of our students, please do not attempt to pull out of the line before a staff member directs you to do so. There is no parking in the drop off and pick line. *If a child is being picked up by someone other than a parent, that person will be required to present a driver’s license for identification.* Can I switch back to in-person or remote learning during the year? - Yes, students can start off as remote learners and then transition back to in-person after the first marking period (Trimester 1: September 8 – November 25). - Please communicate with your child’s teacher/school administration if you are planning to switch. As we did last spring… FCMA will be distributing meals at no charge to ALL students, regardless of eligibility status. Edibles Rex, our food vendor, will prepare breakfast and lunch meals in a Grab and Go style. Meals will be served Monday through Friday, with meals for remote learners available for pick-up Mondays and Wednesdays, from 10 am – 12 pm. Meals have been ordered for this week, so please notify Ms. Mikaela, mikaelakolka@choiceschools.com, if your child(ren) need breakfast/lunch. Be sure to include your child(ren)’s classroom name in the email and if they are in-person or remote. An order form for next week will be sent out, but please note that Edibles Rex has stated that they are unable to provide us with a menu beforehand. Student Gmail Login Credentials It is important for remote learners to have their Gmail login credentials in order to login to their assigned Chromebook. If you have multiple students, please ensure that each child uses their own unique Gmail login credentials. If you have any questions or concerns about these credentials, please contact your child’s classroom teacher or Ms. Alex via email, alexandriabyrd@choiceschools.com. Kids Club (FCMA’s afterschool program 2020-2021) Applications are now available for Kids Club. Space is limited. If you were unable to attend Meet the Teacher Parade/Resource Pickup, on Tuesday, September 1st, please be sure to contact Ms. Alex via email, alexandriabyrd@choiceschools.com, to make alternate arrangements.
