PALM BEACH GARDENS, FL (May 7, 2012) – The Palm Beach Gardens Police Explorers, an educational training programs for young adults funded in part by the Palm Beach Gardens Police Foundation, finished in second place overall in a police related competition among numerous Posts from seven Florida counties.
The awards were presented on Saturday, May 5th by the Gulf Stream Council of the Boy Scouts of America and numerous members of the Police Department who serve as Post Advisors attended the banquet.
In addition, the Police Explorer of the Year honors went to Palm Beach Gardens Police Explorer Captain Kirsten Eriksson. The Police Explorer Advisor of the Year was awarded to Palm Beach Gardens Police Officer Tara Headman.
Police Explorers, also known as Law Enforcement Exploring, is a career-oriented program that gives young adults between the ages of 14 and 21 the opportunity to explore a career in law enforcement. Law Enforcement Exploring is a non-Scouting subsidiary of the Boy Scouts of America.
The Palm Beach Gardens Police Foundation’s Annual Police Explorer Golf Tournament, scheduled this year for September 15, 2012, generates much of the funding to support the year-long activities of the Explorer Post.
