Crofton House School

Crofton House alumnae are often women who follow their own paths, regardless of obstacles or setbacks. They talk about the confidence and strong identity that they developed during their years at CHS, and the way that these characteristics have led them into all varieties of lifestyles and careers. Between their clear sense of direction and the lifelong networks that they build while attending the school, there is no limit to what they can do. In this edition of the 1898, we feature just a few of the remarkable ways that CHS alumnae both stay connected and find their own uniquely impressive paths.

Haley Barton ‘89: The Clear Path to Health

Switching careers can be a daunting prospect for some, but for Haley Barton ‘89, the move just made sense. While she enjoyed practicing law in London, at a point she realized more and more that her passion was for the science, philosophy, and psychology of nutrition. One intercontinental move, two kids, and a master’s degree later, Haley now does client work, consulting, and public speaking on the issues surrounding a healthy diet.

Class of ‘74: Forty Years Later

Nancy Moore ‘74 wrote to us to share some of her class’s reflections on their recent 40th reunion, which was held concurrently with the school’s 116th birthday. “It sneaks up on you and takes you by surprise,” she noted, going on to reflect on the way that  “Seeing each other again was, in a word, ‘seamless.’” Above all, she said that the reunion was “all about sharing the stories of our lives.”

Thank You Christine

Since her appointment as president of the Alumnae Association Executive, Christine (Wong) Applegarth ‘92 has focused on improving communication and connections with the alumnae community, revitalizing old traditions, and introducing some great new ones. As she now hands over the role to Cathy (Fraser) Hunt ‘84, she hopes that the executive will continue to strengthen the school's remarkable global network of alumnae and think of new ways to involve them in events and communication. Thank you Christine for your years of dedicated service!

Annual General Meeting and Alumnae Luncheon

reunion

As always, this year’s school birthday and Alumnae Association AGM were lively and heartwarming events that brought together students and alumnae from across the years. When it came to the annual tradition of CHS handing back its halls to alumnae for the afternoon, there was a particularly good showing. In fact, the luncheon was the busiest it’s ever been!
