RISE OF THE MURDOCH DYNASTY- BBC This eye-opening three part docu-series follows the rise and fall (then rise again!) of the Rupert Murdoch media empire. Although a relatively well known and recent scandal, this documentary shines a light on the atrocities of tabloid media ethics, extreme influence on political power and leaves a bitter taste of injustice of the super-rich. Such a scandal that lead to the judicial Leveson Inquiry and embroiled multiple prime ministers, leaves the question of what did the inquiry achieve? Such advice will cover cases where a defendant at the time of the offence and/or at the time of sentencing has post-traumatic stress disorder, developmental conditions, learning disabilities and neurological impairments such as some brain injuries or dementia. Ropes & Gray bans TikTok on work devices following privacy concerns Legal Cheek Following privacy concerns by their clients, the company has banned the app throughout their global offices with immediate affect. This is in response to TikTok reportedly being caught accessing users cut-and-paste data stored on Apple users devices. In wider terms, TikTok may be sold to American investors, in a bid to stop Trump from banning the app in the US, with the aim to separate from their owners Chinese tech giant ByteDance. Ex- Uber drivers fight for workers’ rights in Supreme Court The Independent Uber argues drivers did not ‘undertake work’ for firm, in appeal following an employment tribunal ruling drivers were workers and entitled to workers’ rights. The rights effect minimum wage, paid leave and other legal protections. Uber argues drivers are not workers and are independent, third party contractors.
