What's in the Bag?Jordan Spieth, Travelers Championship News on the course from our Head Greens Keeper - GavinRecently the green keepers have been using the rotary mowers to reduce the long ends on the approaches, fairways and tees as well as the regular mowing. The fairways were then rotary brushed prior to mowing. Divoting has been carried out on the fairways and the tees. Please be sure to do your part with this as the divots quickly dry out in this weather leaving an unnecessary and unsightly mess. The rough around the fairways has been cut back to 4". To help the course during this hot weather a wetting agent has been applied to the greens, aprons and fairways. Maxicrop triple has also been applied to bunker tops. Needless to say there has also been lots of hand watering of dry areas and faulty sprinklers repaired and overall operation of the irrigation checked. On the 27th June there was 35.6mm of rain followed by 36.9mm on the Wednesday. The greens were solid tined and top dressed on the 26th/27th whilst the bunker on the practice ground has been topped up with sand and weed killer a[[lied to wooden structures and the main car park. |
