Compassionate and Effective Medical Intervention

Historically, emergency medical intervention has led our relief efforts in international disaster events of great magnitude. We are very fortunate in Hope Force International (HFI) to have a number of highly qualified healthcare providers in our volunteer ranks. When a crisis occurs, we send out an SOS and have been able to then mount an effective response.

For some of our responders, it might be their first opportunity to practice medicine in what is typically a developing nation – often under extremely difficult circumstances. Although quite stressful, these professionals rise to the occasion and serve with remarkable compassion.

We’ve been meeting with HFI healthcare volunteers to consider ways in which we might better prepare ourselves for future calamities. The conclusion that we’ve come to is that we need pre-determined opportunities to serve together under less stressful conditions. This will enable us to identify areas of opportunity to strengthen our systems and practices. It will also provide first time international volunteers the ability to acquaint themselves with what it takes to be effective in unfamiliar conditions, and build confidence.

We need you! We are recruiting two medical teams to join us in our long-term recovery/rebuilding efforts in Haiti during 2015. The teams will work alongside our national coordinators and will serve the village of Sous Savanne and surrounding communities. In doing this, we will accomplish two primary objectives:

  • HFI’s commitment to fill a gap in available healthcare to the impoverished populace -- in keeping with our commitment to those in our Child Sponsorship Program and vulnerable populations.
  • Team members will acquire experience and develop expertise, greatly enhancing their effectiveness in international medical intervention by serving the poorest of the poor in our hemisphere.

Because this is a non-disaster opportunity, all those interested in putting their love of God and others into compassionate action -- not just HFI Reservists – are welcome. Non-medical volunteers are needed to fill vital support roles of meaningful ministry opportunities in various areas of practical service. We would LOVE to have you on the team!

Please prayerfully consider serving on a team in Haiti during 2015 during the following weeks:

➢ June 6 – 13
➢ November 7-14

We need to hear from you as soon as possible if you’re interested! Please contact:  info@hopeforce.org.
