One Yellow Rabbit mourns the death of colleague
Michael Green

It is with great sorrow that One Yellow Rabbit Performance Theatre confirms the tragic death of our dear friend, colleague and cultural activist, Michael Green. Michael was one of five victims of a fatal multi-vehicle car crash north of Regina, Saskatchewan, on the morning of Tuesday, February 10th, 2015. The cause of the crash is still under investigation by RCMP.

Michael was co-founder of, and writer, director and actor with One Yellow Rabbit; and founder / curator of the High Performance Rodeo. He was creative director of Calgary 2012 and executive producer/creator of the Making Treaty 7 Project. Michael was a proud ambassador for Calgary and a vital force in creating the cultural milieu that is Calgary today. He was an exuberant spirit who embraced the exceptional and the unusual and wanted to share it with as many people as possible. He inspired many with his originality; and he created much with his vision. We are grateful to him. His loss is felt deeply by all of us whose lives he touched.

We offer our deepest sympathies to his family and dear friends. One Yellow Rabbit extends our condolences and thoughts to the others who died in the car with Michael; Michele Sereda and Lacy Morin-Desjarlais; and Elder Narcisse Blood, who worked with Michael on Making Treaty 7.

Members of the community are invited to celebrate Michael’s life this afternoon, Wednesday, February 11th between 1pm – 4pm at the Big Secret Theatre, located on the 2nd floor of Arts Commons (formerly the EPCOR Centre for the Performing Arts.)

We will release details as they become available.
