eNews - Autumn 2017

Message from the President

The year is flying by and our first reunions are about to kick off!  There are three reunions this month 5, 10 and 15 years.  Don’t miss out!  If it is a reunion year for you please book early.  This year is also a 40+ reunion, so if you graduated in 1977 or earlier start letting your old class mates know.  Your reunion is on Saturday 21 October 2017.  So plan ahead and help organise your friends.

Plenty of opportunities to visit the College even if it is not your year starting with a new format Open Evening including Jazz and performances from current students, hospitality, tours and presentations about the College.  All are welcome.

Welcome to the Class of 2016!  The collective Wyvernian IQ has just been boosted.  Our newest Wyvernians posted one of the highest VCE results in the last ten years.  Congratulations to all.
We are eager to hear what you are doing.  Achievements, big events, business ventures, matters of interest.  Please email me with information and we will post it in future editions.

In this edition we feature two Alumni from the Class of 2016 - Kate Mylius and Katherine Smith. Getting on the business!  Kate is starring in a new show on the ABC called ‘Trip for Biscuits’; and Katherine (Smitty) Smith is one of the rising stars in the new AFL Women’s league – look for number 13 for the Demons.

Looking forward to a big year.  If you would like to help with preparation for your reunion or just get involved please contact me.  Stay in touch!

Class of 2016

A very warm welcome to our newest Alumni members from the Class of 2016.

Be sure to stay in touch and keep your details up to date so we can let you know what's happening at the College.

The first year Reunion is on Thursday 17 August and you can find out more in the article below.

Focus and Highlights

In this edition we applaud the efforts of two of our newest Wyvernians Katherine (Smitty) Smith (left) and Kate Mylius.

Kate Mylius is currently featuring in a new show on ABC iView called ‘Trip for Biscuits’.  The series is great viewing and deserves support.  Tune in and have a look…each episode is around 10 minutes.

Katherine Smith is currently in the defensive starting line-up for the Demons and is one of the ‘rising stars’/’young guns’ in the league.  Smitty is really making her presence felt.
Congratulations to Smitty we love your work!
For those that missed this feature late last year:

Please contact us with yours or other’s achievements, business ventures, big events and matters of interest.  We would love to feature you in a future edition.

2016 VCE Results

The Class of 2016 who sat for VCE exams have acheived two firsts for the College:

  • 33% achieved an ATAR of 90+, placing them in the top 10% nationally - the highest figure we have had for the College.
  • 18% of study scores were 40+, double the state average, and much higher than in the past.

46% of the Class of 2016 acheived an ATAR of 80+, placing them in the top 20% of students across Australia.

For the sixth year in a row Cameron Stollery is the Dux of his year level, and hence the Dux of the College in 2016, with an ATAR of 99.7. Cameron has been a student at Kingswood College since he joining the Early Learning Centre. In addition to his academic achievements Cameron has been an outstanding contributor to the Performing Arts, and Walker House.

Of course personal bests come in a range of contexts, and we salute every student who committed to achieving theirs and who can look back feeling pride and satisfaction with their achievements and contributions across a range of endeavours.
