A safer harbour for summer fun
We’re making progress to deliver a new Hampton Pier for the Sandringham community and it’s exciting to be able to share this news with the warmer weather approaching as we head into the summer months.
In the coming fortnight, contractors will set up a works compound to remove the old pier. The compound will be located between the carpark and old pier on the foreshore. This short project is expected to be completed in about six weeks and will be undertaken both in water (by barge), and from land.
We’re working to limit impacts to local traders and the community, but some access routes to the foreshore will be fenced off for safety (see red area in the map below). The good news is once the old pier is removed, the contractors will vacate the area to provide full access for summer.
