Welcome to our summer newsletter

Once again, we’ve been busy this term getting out to see more and more schools to demonstrate just how easy it is to add Quorn to menus across the school day. With celebrations ranging from National Vegetarian Week to the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, we’ve certainly been kept on our toes!

I hope you enjoy this issue.

Cooking up a vegetarian feast during National Vegetarian Week
Cooking up a vegetarian feast during National Vegetarian Week

We were invited to celebrate National Vegetarian Week with Walkden Sixth Form and get some much-loved Quorn dishes on their menu. We created and served some mouth-watering dishes including Quorn tikka masala, Quorn lasagne and Quorn Swedish style balls marinara sub rolls. It was also an opportunity to educate the students and staff on the benefits of using Quorn and other ways the ingredient can be added to the menu at the college.

Salford City College also got involved in the spirit of National Vegetarian Week hosting its very own Quornathon at the college’s De La Salle Centre where students got cooking and everyone was treated to free Quorn frankfurters throughout the day!

Let us know what you get up to when you’re celebrating theme days or events and you could appear in our next newsletter!

Party time!
Party time!

Schools up and down the country were out in force celebrating the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee with themed lunches and activities such as dressing up competitions and tea parties.

Elington First School in Northumberland was just one of the schools we worked with during this time to help them create a spread fit for a Queen. With Quorn coronation wraps and Quorn sausage pizzas taking pride of place on the menu, the team did themselves proud.

It’s great to know that we’re adding value and support to the schools we’re visiting and thank Pip Forsyth from Belsay First School for her comment following our support of their Olympic menu this month. With the children getting their hands dirty and helping create a truly athletic lunch -
‘Fasta Pasta’ with Quorn mince – it went down a treat.

“Thank you for a fantastic session. Your input has been valuable for the school on many levels. You have not only extended our children’s knowledge on healthy eating and Quorn, but got the children, teachers and catering staff involved in the production of ‘school meal time’ and understood the importance we place on creating positive meal times.”

We’re not only about school meals

Our work doesn’t stop at feeding our future generations… our activities span the full breadth of the hospitality arena working with pubs, restaurants and leisure outlets. We’ve recently launched a range of ready meals with KK Fine Foods with a listing already secured with Marston’s Inns & Taverns and Tesco Cafés. If you get a chance to try these amazing new dishes, please feedback your comments, as we’d love to know what you think.

We also recently hosted a morning of inspiring insight and innovation at Alyn Williams Restaurant at The Westbury, Mayfair. In association with Horizons, experts in data and insight in the foodservice arena, we launched the results of their biannual Menurama research listing the nation’s top 10 dishes found when eating out of home. With burgers hitting the number one spot, we enticed guests with some amazing canapés of the top dishes with a Quorn twist!
