Please keep an eye on your inbox this week for a further update on how the easing of national COVID-19 restrictions will be reflected across the University. COVID-19 vaccineIf you haven’t already, you can book your COVID-19 vaccinations through the NHS booking system. Already left Exeter for the summer? You can book a slot at any vaccination centre in the UK. The vaccines have been shown to significantly reduce the risk of serious illness or death from COVID-19 but no vaccine is 100% effective and it is still important to continue to follow UK Government guidelines; you can read the current rules online. While the vaccines offer good protection, they do take 3-4 weeks to take full effect. You can read our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) about the vaccine on our webpages. International students and study abroad students International students can have the COVID-19 vaccination. If you are over 18 you can book an appointment via the national booking system. However, if you are unable to book online and are not registered with a doctor (GP Practice) you can book a vaccine appointment in Exeter by contacting d-ccg.devonvaccinationsupport@nhs.net confirming your Full Name, Date of Birth, Contact Number and Address. Please remember that the COVID-19 vaccination is FREE in the UK. If you interact with these emails, you will be directed to complete some training on phishing and cyber security to ensure you are protected and aware of what to do if a real phishing attack targets you in the future. For more guidance on staying cyber savvy at work and home, visit the Digital Hub. To book or not to book? Your views on booking study spacesThe Library and Study Spaces teams are running a short survey on booking study spaces. We introduced study space bookings this year, due to COVID-19 and would like to hear your views about whether we continue this service. You can find the short survey here. On campus prayer spacesPlease be aware that the use of Reed Hall for Muslim prayer space on Streatham ended on Sunday 4 July. The prayer rooms in the lower level of the Old Library have now been reopened for you to use. COVID-19 restrictions will remain in place so please bring your own prayer mat and shoe bag if needed. Our experienced and highly qualified teachers will work with you on your language skills and increase your cultural agility. Small group sizes mean plenty of exchange and a highly interactive learning experience. Please book early to avoid disappointment! Students on the MoveThe campaign ‘Students on the Move’ ensured that Exeter streets would be clear of waste during the holidays, supported by our community wardens. Thank you to everyone who made use of the campaign to keep local streets safe and clean, before travelling home. This service has now concluded for the summer, however, if you’re still in living in the city, please continue to be mindful of household waste as rubbish bags left outside can attract vermin who will attack bags and spread waste across the streets. If you’ll be moving out before bin day, consider booking a special waste collection with the council (Tel: 01392 265 010). Parties and NoiseIf you’re staying in Exeter over the summer, please continue to be mindful of noise levels, as you may have neighbours with young families, or early morning work commitments. If arranging a gathering, it is important to socialise safely and considerately by consulting the noise section of the student guide (pages 24 and 25). Coat donations in Devonshire HouseThe coat donation point is still on campus for those who wish to donate any coats to CoLab Exeter charity. You can find the donation spot in Devonshire House (DH2 opposite the large meeting room near the Exeposé suite). But hurry! We will be taking it there on Friday 16 July. For more information please contact communitywardens@exeter.ac.uk.
