Have your say on the future use of the Wet Tropics A review of the Wet Tropics Management Plan is currently being undertaken. The changes proposed in this review have the potential to impact tourism and recreational users for many years to come. It could affect you whether you operate tours, accommodation or retail services. It is important that a new Wet Tropics Plan caters for the future needs of locals, visitors, conservation and recognises traditional owner aspirations. The Alliance for Sustainable Tourism is consulting broadly and developing a submission for the tourism sector on
proposed changes to the plan and identifying changes that may be needed to improve the plan. A series of four public consultation meetings are being held: - Atherton Tablelands – Monday 22 May at 6pm – Hallorans Hill Observation Building – Centenary Drive, Atherton
- Cairns area and Kuranda – Tuesday 23 May at 6pm – Tourism Tropical North Queensland boardroom, 51 Esplanade, Cairns
- Innisfail to Townsville – Wednesday 24 May at 6pm – Tully Visitor and Heritage Centre, Bruce Highway, Tully
- Port Douglas to Cooktown – Thursday 25 May at 6pm – Mossman Shire Hall, Mill St, Mossman
To attend a meeting or request a phone interview contact the Alliance at alliance@ttnq.org.au advising your name, company, contact details and the meeting you wish to attend or request phone contact.
