Transition in the Office of Young Adult and Campus Ministries

The Office of Young Adult and Campus Ministries is in the midst of transition. The Rev. Michael Angell will finish his work as Missioner for Young Adult and Campus Ministry on March 13, in order to take up a call as rector of a parish in St. Louis.

Important work continues in the office. The Rev. Shannon Kelly, Acting Missioner for Campus and Young Adult Ministries, already is at work on important initiatives. Below you will find details about our Campus Ministry grants for 2015-2016 and the Young Adult Festival at General Convention.

Young Adult Festival at General Convention

The Young Adult Festival at General Convention this year will be different. It will run the length of convention, but will be in two distinct segments. June 24-29 will be a “Why Serve?” gathering centered on discernment as a spiritual practice for young adult leaders. June 29-July 3 will be “Kindling,” a gathering for leaders of ministries with young adults on and off college campuses. You can read more here.

Campus Ministry Grants

The Domestic and Foreign Missionary Society invites proposals for grants to assist in the start up of new campus ministries or the restart of dormant campus ministries. Our hope is that dioceses, parishes and campus ministries, through these grants, can imagine new ways of ministering to those young adults who are traditionally the least likely to seek out an Episcopal campus ministry. It is also an opportunity for leaders in dioceses and congregations to imagine ministry with students who historically have not been a part of our campus ministry communities. Deadline for submitting grant proposals is April 30.
