CPC Hosts Annual Appreciation Reception On December 15th, CPC hosted an Appreciation Reception at Essex Market to acknowledge our supporters and show our gratitude for their contributions, commitment, and impact on our organization and the community. The event brought together over 200 guests, including Mayor Eric Adams, Public Advocate Jumaane Williams, and Commissioners of the Mayor’s Office of Contract Services, Administration for Children’s Services, Department for the Aging, and Department of Social Services. During the event, Ji Meng Wu, a youth participant in one of CPC's afterschool programs, shared a personal story about the impact CPC has had on his life. Additionally, Christine AuYeung from the Robin Hood Foundation explained the foundation's ongoing support for CPC. EDUCATIONWe provide high-quality learning opportunities for all ages—from Pre-K and after-school enrichment to adult English language classes—because education is lifelong.
CPC Leadership Council and ECS Team Meet to Strengthen Partnerships On December 7th, CPC's Education and Career Services (ECS) team and Leadership Council, a tight-knit community of business and nonprofit leaders who seek to advance CPC’s mission, held a meet and greet to network and explore collaboration opportunities for the upcoming year. The event served as a platform to understand each team member's role in facilitating potential collaborations.
CPC Childhood Development Services Celebrates the Holidays From early childhood education centers to school-age child care centers, the holiday spirit thrived as Santa Claus made visits and distributed gifts to children. They enjoyed making clay art and dancing to festive music during the winter celebrations. New York City Council Member Carlina Rivera, a former Little Star participant, visited the Little Star center and handed out gifts to children alongside Santa. FAMILY SUPPORTWe make it easier for individuals and families to access personalized social resources because support is fundamental at every age.
CPC and NYU Langone Promote Well-being with Nutrition Workshop On December 12th, CPC and NYU Langone teamed up to host a nutrition education workshop for the Geriatric Mental Health Initiative program. Attended by over 30 members, the workshop emphasized the role of healthy lifestyle habits in preventing cancer and promoting good health.
Nan Shan Older Adult Center Hosts Winter Festival Brunch On December 15th, CPC Nan Shan Older Adult Center (OAC) held a dim sum brunch at Royal Queen Restaurant in Flushing to celebrate the Winter Festival. Over 500 community members, elected officials, and community partners enjoyed the food, special performances, and good company. We engage with individuals to plan and develop their career paths because professional success is critical for economic independence.
Hong Ning Housing Hosts Workshop Addressing Disproportionate Hepatitis B Impact on Asian Americans On December 6th, CPC hosted a Hepatitis B workshop for residents of Hong Ning and 64 Norfolk Senior Housing. Facilitated by Charles B. Wang Community Health Center, participants learned about Hepatitis B and its prevalence among Asian Americans, who account for approximately 60% of Hepatitis B cases in the US. Attendees were screened for the disease and received resources for follow-up care.
CPC Staff Holiday Party Draws Over 200 Attendees On December 14th, CPC hosted our staff holiday party at The Grand Delancey in the Lower East Side. The event brought together over 200 colleagues, as well as members of the CPC Board and Leadership Council for an exciting evening with food, drinks, activities, and a raffle. It also served as a platform for colleagues to reconnect with one another and celebrate our collective accomplishments.
CPC Joins Stakeholders to Launch the "Home Care Savings & Reinvestment Act" Campaign On December 11th, CPC joined workers, elected officials, community members, and advocates to launch a campaign for the passage of the “Home Care Savings & Reinvestment Act”. It seeks to return home care management to the State. The estimated annual savings of $3 billion could address the rising home care needs, improve service quality, and raise wages for New York home care workers.
CPC Presents Our 2023 Annual Report CPC released our 2023 Annual Report, which highlights how our services have adapted and expanded across our three pillars: Education, Family Support, and Community and Economic Empowerment. It is a testament to our commitment to promoting the social and economic empowerment of our community members. This achievement has been made possible through the support of our Board Members, Leadership Council, staff, community members, donors, and volunteers.
