An update from your Community Board.

Christchurch City Council

We're now in Alert Level 2.

Many of our facilities are open from tomorrow, Thursday 9 September, and we look forward to welcoming you back.

The health and safety of our residents and Council staff is our top priority, so we've got measures in place to help keep everyone safe and well. You can do your bit by staying at home if you or anyone in your house is unwell, and by scanning in and physical distancing when visiting our facilities.

The main details are below, and you can keep checking Newsline for the latest developments. It's updated live and is your best source of accurate information about what we're up to.

New Alert Level 2 guidelines for our venues

  • At Alert Level 2 you must follow the Government guidelines by wearing a mask at all of our indoor venues.
  • Contact tracing will be in place and everyone must sign in, either with the NZ COVID Tracer app or manually using the slips provided.
  • We're limiting numbers into our facilities to keep everyone safe. You should keep two metres apart from people you do not know.

Libraries and service centres

Our libraries and service centres reopen to the public from Thursday 9 September. Check out our opening hours and find out what you need to know before you visit our libraries here or call us on (03) 941 7923.

Recreation and Sport Centres

Jellie Park, Pioneer, Taiora QEII and Graham Condon Recreation and Sport Centres all reopen on Thursday 9 September. To protect your health and safety we're putting in place contact tracing and a booking system. Before you visit, please check our website for more details.

Christchurch Art Gallery Te Puna o Waiwhetū

Christchurch Art Gallery Te Puna o Waiwhetū also opens on Thursday 9 September. Please visit their website for the latest information and opening hours.

Transfer stations and EcoShop open

EcoDrop transfer stations at Parkhouse Road, Bromley and Styx Mill are fully open. Bookings are not required under Alert Level 2. The EcoShop is also open. The Barrys Bay Transfer Station on Banks Peninsula is operating under winter hours until Sunday 26 September.

Council and community board meetings

During Alert Level 2, there are different arrangements in place for Council meetings that are difficult to hold in person due to COVID-19 restrictions.

Community board and committee meetings will proceed as scheduled via video conferencing and will be either recorded or minuted and posted to the Council website as appropriate. Council meetings and committee of the whole meetings are being held on video conference and will be livestreamed, so they can be watched by the public.

Rates

If your rates were due on 31 August and you normally pay your rates in person, you have until close of business on Wednesday 15 September to pay at a service centre without incurring a penalty charge. For the latest information about rates and how we can help, go here or talk to us on 0800 800 169.

For more...

As mentioned, you can always visit Newsline for live news updates or more detail, or call 0800 800 169 if you'd rather have a chat to someone.
