Studio Alexander wins Gold Award for Fletcher Archivist's Table

We are proud to announce that the Archivist's Table, created to mark the centennial of Fletcher in New Zealand, has won the New Zealand design industry's Gold Best Award for broadcast graphic design.

The Archivist's Table tells the story of a fine New Zealand business tradition through a combination of video, photography, illustration and animation, with narration from Fletcher archivist Dorothy Neilson, and excerpts from a 1970 interview with company founder, Sir James Fletcher.

The best part of our business is working with courageous clients who support great work.

We're celebrating our tenth birthday!

This year Studio Alexander turns 10. It's been a terrific journey with our team, our clients, some outstanding work, and a lot of fun. As we look to our next decade, we took time out to celebrate with many of the people who have been there with us as Studio Alexander grew. Special thanks to photographer John Crawford for capturing the spirit of the night.

We're celebrating our tenth birthday!

At the end of November, Grant is being inducted into Massey University's College of Creative Arts Hall of Fame. He joins previous inductees Richard Taylor (Weta Workshop), fashion design stars Kate Sylvester and Rebecca Taylor, Mark Pennington (Formway industrial designer) and the artist Gordon Walters, and sculptor Len Lye posthumously.

Instigated in 2007, the Hall of Fame recognises outstanding contributions through art and design to New Zealand's economy, reputation and national identity by former students or staff of the college.

This year will also see the induction of photographer Jane Ussher, and (posthumously) painter and printmaker John Drawbridge.

College Associate Pro Vice-Chancellor Dr Claire Robinson says: "We are celebrating these great alumni for their role in visually defining and reflecting upon ourselves as nation, and for what they have contributed to New Zealand's economic, intellectual and cultural growth. Our students today truly stand upon the shoulders of giants.”

More talent for our team

We've added more talent to our team with new recruits Matt Kardos and Natasha Vermeulen

Matt joins us as Online Director after 10 years in San Diego as Director of Technology for award-winning digital agency Digitaria. Matt has been at the forefront of web development and he brings an invaluable international viewpoint. With online strategy growing in importance, Matt will be involved in delivering 'on-brand' web solutions for new and existing clients.

Natasha joins our design team. She graduated from Massey University in Wellington in 2007 with a First Class Honours degree. Besides a love of art photography and design, Natasha is inspired by music and continues to enjoy playing classical piano. Natasha is already recognised as an outstanding industry performer - she won Gold in the Student category of The Best Design Awards in 2008 for her graduation thesis.
