Sheriff's & Oath Keepers at Next Meeting

Are you concerned about the proposed gun control legislation?  Have you wondered what your sheriff’s stand will be if laws should ever be passed “requiring” gun confiscation?  Join us at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 14th when our guest speakers will be Mike Austell, the Florida State Chapter Leader for Oath Keepers, along with the sheriffs from Columbia, Lafayette and Suwannee Counties. Sheriffs are one of our last lines of defense; it is imperative that we elect men or women who are ready and willing to uphold the oath they took to support and defend the U.S. Constitution.  We will have a forum-type event with a question and answer session at the end.  Oath Keepers will have a table at our meeting with more information about their organization. You can also learn more about the Oath Keepers organization at http://oathkeepers.org/oath/ .  Invite your family and friends to this important meeting!

The gun will be a Smith & Wesson M & P 9mm ($600 value)  Tickets will be available at the upcoming meeting.  They will be $5 each, with the drawing being held at the Branford River Reunion on July 4, 2013.  Please plan on taking tickets and selling them to your friends and neighbors.  We have several projects we are working on and obviously need money to accomplish them!

American Patriot Newspaper Ready to Distribute!

We are able to print and distribute the American Patriot Newspaper!  We will have the most recent edition available at the March 14th meeting.  This issue includes articles on sequestration, "gun makers boycott governments", gag order on drones, and other very interesting information. We also have a local insert which includes local articles and information on upcoming meetings.

We need to find stores, restaurants and other places that will let us put the newspaper in their establishments. If you can help with the distribution of this newspaper, please contact Sharon at shiggins@windstream.net; if you would like to submit an article and/or event  for the local section, please email it to FlPatriot@gnx.com.  We would like to get copies out in Lake City, Branford and eventually Live Oak.  This is a great way to reach and inform people in a new way; one of our goals is to educate not only ourselves but others in all of the issues facing us today.

Florida Legislature Begins Session

The Florida Legislature began the 2013 session on Tuesday, March 5, 2013.  There are many areas that need to be watched; probably the main one is the Medicaid Expansion/Health Care issue.   We just received the below information; please follow through and do what you can to let the Legislators know how you feel about this subject:

From the Tea Party Network:

Action Alert - Medicaid Expansion

If you are keeping up with other issues, please email me with the information so that I can include it in the newsletter!

What Can You Do?

As you can see from this newsletter, there are so many issues that need our attention and action.  What can you do to help get the information out?

1) Attend our meetings; pick up materials on the issues and pass them out to your friends and neighbors.  Someone recently told me that he didn't attend meetings to "be entertained"; he attended to see what he could do to help! (thanks Mike).  What a great idea!  Everyone can do something, please come out and find out what you can do!

2) Keep up with the issues going on in Tallahassee and pass the information on so that our members can act accordingly.

3) Help with the American Patriot Newspaper - with several people helping with this, we will be able to get it out to a good number of people twice a month!

4)Sell tickets for the gun raffle.  This will help us be able to work on new projects as well as fund the projects that we are already doing.

5) Attend the local County Commission meetings.  This is probably the best way to realize quickly that you can make a difference!   The Suwannee County Commission is going to vote on moving their meetings to the evenings in the near future.  This will make it easier for "working" people to attend and get involved.  Please try to attend these meetings and let them know you are interested in what is going on in local government!
